Poets of the Fall
Poets of the Fall (hereafter POTF) is one famous Finnish rock band. They know some good ways about how to become popular, even without massive promotion and even abroad Finland. Their heyday was around 2006, when they were celebrating 2 platinum records and ended up in Max Payne game OST.
With "best Finnish music video of all time" on their super hit ‘Carnival of Rust’, directed by visionary Stobe Harju (also known as the director behind videos in recent game Alan Wake, where POTF also participated, and ‘Imaginaerum’ movie of NIGHTWISH. Check this guy out). Personally I have mixed feelings about their repertoire. They are beyond any doubt capable of making major hits and touchy ballads, they are awesome onstage, but I could not value their regular songs quite as much. Nevertheless, at least in Russia they know very widely, especially among people in early 20ties. Music and Performance
Though I honestly could not call POTF band number one in my life, many other people could. The club was really packed, thanks to POTF fame and also to very democratic price of ticket and to Finnish graduation of high school day before, that typically is followed by some nights out for anyone involved. The crowd was a bit unusual for me, as not too many "rock people" were attending. The band is the one that makes great music without doubt and yet appealing to much wider audience than "subcultural" formations. Later on Facebook, one can see members of the band tagged with fans from Russia, that came cross-border just for the gig. 
The gig was a very well performed one. I saw the band once back in 2007 on an open-air, so could not recall what happened back then, but the band does great onstage. The singer is always full of emotions, sometimes lyrical, sometimes really crazy. The show is accompanied with a good light, that gives a blast at times, and create the mood in others. It is almost expected that all-time hits will be in the set list, that crowd sang along. It was a pleasure to be there to recite the familiar lyrics of the songs that made this band famous.
