Backstage Werk, Munich, Germany
30th January 2010
Peter Heppner & Band, Melotron

In this snow-covered and ice-cold Saturday evening I came along on the way to Munich to be experience Peter Heppner in the Backstage finally after his concert last year in Munich was cancelled. Hence, I was glad all the more.

Melotron

The prelude of the evening formed Andy Krüger (voice and composition), Edgar Slatnow (synthesizer) and Kay Hildebrandt of MELOTRON, founded in 1998 in Mecklenburg. During the last years they got to set up as a firm size in the Electro scene of this world with their German-tongued Electro Pop. www.melotron.com/

Music & Performance
With a 15 minutes delay MELOTRON appeared onstage, already awaited by the audience. They presented songs like ‘Menschenfresser’ and ‘Der Blaue Planet’ to bring the few people who were already present in the Backstage (reason was certainly also the weather chaos) into the right mood. The three likeable guys managed this really well, however, unfortunately, their appearance was over after half an hour already without playing all their well-known songs and they left stage for Peter Heppner. At the end they were at least presenting some new songs from the upcoming album.

Peter Heppner & Band

Peter Heppner is known mostly for nearly 20 years as front man of the Electro-Pop band WOLFSHEIM. Besides that, he already worked together with Joachim Witt, Schiller or also DJ Paul van Dyk and in September 2008, he published a solo album with the suitable name ‘Solo’. For his works he received not only numerous precious metals but also the highest honouring which can be awarded by the German music industry, the "Echo". http://www.peterheppner.de/

Music & Performance
After a short rebuilding break Peter Heppner appeared on the stage with his band, consisting of Lothar Manteuffel (keyboard), Dirk Rieger (keyboard), Carsten Klatte (guitar) and Achim Färber (drums). Unfortunately, not many more listeners had arrived by now, but at least, within the present ones, there were a few courageous dancers who enjoyed obviously the sounds of Heppner. Peter Heppner, who seemed a little bit taciturn, played all big hits, like ‘Alleinesein’, ‘Kein Zurück’, ‘Die Flut’ and besides many more also the biggest WOLFSHEIM classic ‘The Sparrows And The Nightingales’ and one new song called ‘God Smoked’. After one and a half hours of good mood and wonderful music, the evening came to an end after three additions (containing also the already mentioned new song) unfortunately. This was a completely successful evening for which it was really worthwhile to take the strain of the journey…
