Album review

Fans of acts like WITHIN TEMPTATION take care: this could be something for you! WINTER OF EDEN is the name of a promising newcomer band from the north east of England. 'At The Edge Of The World' is their 3-piece EP which considers elements of Symphonic and Gothic Rock/Metal and also minimal influences of Celtic Folk are partly to be mentioned at 'Cry'.

'Fate Will Oblige' opens the EP as a atmospheric and emotional midtempo ballad, followed by the title track 'At The Edge Of The World' which is a little bit faster with a catchy hookline and chorus. 'Cry', the third and last song of the album, is a ballad that touches heart and it would be no wonder when there are dozens of lighters burning at live performance.

The Symphonic touch is well played to the gallery by adequate keyboard sounds which fits perfectly to the guitar and the rhythm section of bass and drums. In the centre stage are the vocals of Vicky Johnson whose mezzo-alto is much darker than the voices of other female-fronted bands. All in all is “At The Edge Of The World” a very unique album which is worth to be listened to. You can make your own impression at the band´s myspace site http://www.myspace.com/winterineden.
