Title: s/t
Artist:  W.E.T
Genre: Rock
Release Date: 11th October 2009
Label: Frontier

W.E.T is a band name that maybe creates some questions about what it means and you get the answer if you take the first letter in the bands the members are most famous from – Robert Säll is the guitar player who is most known from Work Of Art, Erik Mårtensson is the songwriter, multi instrument player and producer from Eclipse and Jeff Scott Soto is the singer from Talisman. With a little help from the songwriter Miqael Persson, the guitar player Magnus Henriksson and the drummer Robban Bäck the bands debut album 's/t' is ready to be released.

Album Review

It´s always interesting to start to listen to new bands, the good part is that no hopes or expectations colour your judgement. Also knowing what to expect is sometimes really helpful. In this case advise is needed, since this record just flows with great songs. I actually find myself waiting for a song to come that I don’t like but too my surprise that don’t happen.

'One Love' is the first single from the album. It quickly became a favourite on the Swedish YouTube channel when it was released, it´s a strong song with good lyrics and music. 'Brothers In Arms' is simply brilliant from the start all through the song. I really enjoy the way Jeff sings and uses his voice on this one. 'Comes Down Like Rain' is a beautiful and slower song that really touches. This song really creates an atmosphere and a lot of feelings.

'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is', ah I like how this song begins with a cool intro that opens up to a interesting song with raw rocking vocals and a chorus like that easily get stuck in your mind. Flowing guitars creates a really good sound in this song. When the song is over I can’t help but wish it was longer and hit repeat. 'Just Go' is a rougher and faster song that just kind of kicks off from the first moment and continues in this tempo all through the song. I really like Jeff's voice in this one, the man really uses his talent very well. Impressive melody, guitars and bass in this one, it feel like it just goes faster and faster – damn cool! 'If I Fall' is the last song on the album and this is one of my favourites. Remarkable is how the song starts slow before it opens up with great music and vocals. This is a powerful rock ballad with good lyrics, a lot of feeling and flowing music.

When I started to listen to this album my intention was to just listen to some of the song before heading to bed but I just could not stop listen to 's/t' since every song was something different. It felt like every song was beautiful and different in its own way but then all of the songs came together perfectly. This is really an even and impressive album that I liked very much from the first time I listened through the songs – it kept me up past my bed time but well it really was worth it.

Strong lyrics and vocals together with great music runs through all the songs like a red line. I can’t say that it happens that often that a new band blows me away musically as this one has done. I have only listened to the songs a couple of times but are very impressed and moved by the songs so I kind of wonder what will happen when this album has spend some time in my CD player and probably need to see this band live soon!
