Album Review

ZERITAS began with founding member Rene composing the first songs under that alias in 2003. Singer Michael joined the line-up in the following year. In 2005, ZERITAS made the 3rd place within the scopes of the "Battle Of The Bands" contest, attracting the attention of Gerrit who offered to make a promo CD with them, and became the third member eventually. The debut album 'Metamorphose' is due for release this Friday.

A romantic sonic landscape unfolds on the opener 'Dritte Person Singular' and in the further course will be the prevailing element beside Micha's vocals and mild electronic accentuation. A muffled droning introduces to the second track 'Land in Sicht', soon to be joined by yet subtle atmospheres and piano which are only the start for a piece of orchestral extends, evolving from them later on. A wind is blowing into town from far away as 'Mein Recht zu Klagen' begins that's developing a curbed mood, which is also taking its toll on the listeners I guess. With the weeping help of acoustic guitar and synth violin, the German lyrics will surely gain more impact. 'Welten' goes without any vocals but therefore features a virtuoso, glittering piano section, safe to find many admirers. 'Kein Geschenk' is a rather organic piece of music with a backdrop of reversed instrumental sections, also having a female vocalist in stock for you.

'Mehr von Dir' builds primarily on the piano as means of transportation for the message within the lyrics. Strings and electronics are mixed in for good measure again. The album closes with the title track, which in its first moments is just a mournful symphony but is going into collaboration with industrial elements. 'Metamorphose' has good production for a debut release and the arrangements have their magical moments, but overall it doesn't have an outstanding feel to it for me.
