Album Review

UNLIGHT’s upcoming new album is a bit too early in case of having releases every two years; we expected it not until spring 2011. The three “imaginary” guys from Germany couldn’t wait. Now I know why. These 10 Songs together will be the best album they’ve ever made and they’ve made quite a few before. But all those shiny stuff should have also some shadow within. Some tracks are not really new, sounding like older songs but the remaining songs are just manmade, handmade Black Metal without any compromises. ‘Sulphurblooded’ is not even an outstanding album, not innovative enough for being so, but solid and nice work.

Besides the hard and with full speed guitar playing tracks, there are just a few slow mid-tempi songs like ‘Dead all things will be(part II)’ without losing the dark manner. Just as we should estimate, they keep the bass rolling and with a few upcoming solo guitar-parts the songs will keep together but will not get lost their view to the main genre by just using all standards they should use to like long screams, just as cookie-voices and running drums. For a good example listen to ‘By The Seventh Spell - A Blackthr’.

The website and the design of the album are complete concerted upon each other and looking just as professional as possible. So that’s what I think will be not black-metal like! Even though I’m not evil enough to think that a title for a website with 666-blah-blub-666 is really scary. Maybe for religious kiddies, but they will never ever enter a website like this or listen to this album. But Scary? Not for evil black men or just UNLIGHT fans.

Coming back to the album, I used to say, good work guys. I’ve never heard you before but listening to some older stuff and now the latest release I feel it’s the best they’ve ever made. They are also showing their German roots by singing two songs in German. They are just using too much of Metal-Clichés. But this could be the successful head banger club CD without getting boring, still not good enough for getting 10 points. There have to be more authentic and creative handwriting.
