Wave Gotik Treffen Day 2: In the Nursery (GB), Reptyle (D), Escape with Romeo (D), Reaper (D), Spectra*Paris (I), Signal Aout 42 (B), Hocico (MEX), Covenant (S), Northern Lite (D)

At Saturday we started the day with a long breakfast in the MORITZBASTEI, met some friends there, visited the medieval market and enjoyed the fancifully styled people in the city centre. Later we did a stop in the KUPPELHALLE - a very nice baroque outfitted old fair hall with chandeliers, balconies and several tables and seats. Here we joined the show of IN THE NURSERY.

In the Nursery (GB) - Kuppelhalle Volkspalast

IN THE NURSERY is the Sheffield-based musical project centred around the nucleus of twin brothers Klive and Nigel Humberstone. ITN's musical history spans more than two decades and has constantly expressed their desire for progress and experimentation. Their sublime, cinematic music blends electronica, classical arrangements, orchestral percussion and soundscapes evoking a timeless quality. IN THE NURSERY have released more than two dozen albums since 1981. The creative progress of the band's albums has always consolidated their distinctive sound while taking on board contemporary influences. IN THE NURSERY are Klive Humberstone, Nigel Humberstone, Dolores Marguerite C and David Electrik, the show at WGT was performed only by Klive and Nigel. http://www.inthenursery.com/ / http://www.myspace.com/inthenursery

Music & Performance
The show of IN THE NURSERY was a cinema show of the film "The passion of Joan of Arc". The film - a silent movie with French and English subtitles - was projected in full length to the stage background and Klive and Nigel operated live their synthesizer to produce a spherical electronic sound fitting to the film. This was surely a special thing you could experience at the WGT in the wonderful surrounding of the Volkspalast. It was a perfect combination.

Reptyle - Parkbühne

After it we did a stop in the PARKBÜHNE and enjoyed the shows of REPTYLE and ESCAPE WITH ROMEO. When REPTYLE came into being in the second half of 1999, the basic direction was as clear as it is now: To explore the dark side of rock’n’roll, drawing inspiration from the best of three decades of intense, hard, emotional music. The energy and despair of 70s hard rock and punk; from the 80s, the melancholy beauty of the originators of what was eventually called "Goth" and the eclectic approach of the 90s underground: All these left their stamp on the new REPTYLE as it began to crawl. Following three demo CDs, all of which met considerable critical acclaim, REPTYLE released their debut album ‘A high and lonely place’ in 2004. The current album is called ‘Conseuence’ und was released in 2007. REPTYLE are Zulu (vocals), Keule (guitars), Slash (guitars), Dead (bass) and Diesel (drums). http://www.reptyle.de/ / http://www.myspace.com/reptylemusic

Music & Performance
REPTYLE opened the stage on this day and they did a good job. Their sound was dominated by guitars and the powerful performance impressed the crowd in the afternoon sunshine. Music & Performance
During the instrumental intro only Dalila behind her keyboard was present on stage, but quickly she was support by Elena and the other beautiful girls. They performed eight songs in about 35 minutes; outstanding was the nice cover version of ‘Mad World’. The sound level seemed a little bit low to me, but the performance was hunky-dory and the melodic sound bewitched the audience. At some songs the keyboard player additional played a violin what sounded just great.

COVENANT performed a fantastic rousing show, started with the 20Hz-intro of the last tour. The setlist included a lot of hits like ‘Bullet’, ‘Stalker’ or ‘Call The Ships To Port’, the new song ‘Come’ which was played in Duisburg in April too and also is available at the mySpace-site of COVENANT and a nice surprise at the encore. The band and the audience too were in a very good temper, Eskil and Joakim sometimes were dancing hazardous at the stage border and the energy of the band infected the crowd. Daniel again enriched the live performance with additional live drums and some noises.

The excellent lightshow and a good sound perfected the show. The main set finished after about 60 minutes with ‘Call The Ships To Port’. Of course the crowd requested an encore and the band came back to play three more songs and left the stage again after ‘Dead Stars’. But the crowd didn't get tired and got the band back to the stage again. First Eskil sang a Swedish Folk song a capella, after it followed ‘Theremin’ and ‘One World, One Sky’ before COVENANT finally left the stage.

Before their appearance at the WGT, they had played another show not far from Leipzig and now they were here. The AGRA-hall still was well-filled and infected by the danceable sound; quickly the crowd was dancing along. The soulful vocals and the pleasing sound satisfied the audience and I think the show was a worthy finish for a great festival day.
