Backstage Werk, Munich, Germany
3rd and 4th July 2009
Backstage Open 2009 Day 2: This is the Arrival, Deck Chair Orange, Enno Bunger, Anajo, Slut

Stretched on that what would expect me on this second day of the Backstage Open, I went to Munich. Unfortunately, at the beginning at 7:00 PM, it seemed even less people were there than the day before and it struck that these were primarily very young listeners.

This is the Arrival

THIS IS THE ARRIVAL is a young band from Erding. It consists of Mario Clement, Timo Kuroschinski, Piet Gerhardinger and Mützi Meckes. The four 20-year old boys know themselves from child days and work on the publication of their debut album. www.myspace.com/thisisthearrival

Music & Performance
The guys of THIS IS THE ARRIVAL entered the stage of the unfortunately still almost empty hall shortly after 7:00 PM. They impressed the audience with a diverse mix: Sometimes melancholy, then again dynamic rock. The audience was definitely up to them. Their successful show makes quite curious on their album.

Deck Chair Orange

The 5-headed Indie-Pop band DECK CHAIR ORANGE from Vienna has already experienced something. They are widely travelled, have played at festivals and already had a single, namely ‘Rose’ on place 2 of the Austrian Indie charts! The album was produced, by the way, in Munich. www.myspace.com/deckchairorange

Music & Performance
The hall was not fuller yet and the five musicians of DECK CHAIR ORANGE were the second band of the evening after a short rebuilding break. Indeed, they had sometimes problems to carry the audience away. Maybe it was due to the high temperatures in the venue or due to the dialect they spoke – I do not know it. At the end, the singer still appeared with a solo.

Setlist
01. Bullet in your Mind
02. Solid Lie
03. Golden Place
04. Fine Wine
05. Still Happening
06. Rose
07. Heartbeat

Enno Bunger

ENNO BUNGER should become, actually, a solo project, but since 2007 they are a trio. The band comes from Leer in Niedersachsen/Germany. Already after one year of existence, the band finished more than 80 concerts and was support for bands like Olli Schulz, Silbermond, Laith Al-Deen or Revolverheld. In October, their debut album should appear. www.myspace.com/ennobunger

Music & Performance
ENNO BUNGER consisting of Enno Bunger (voice / piano), Nils Dietrich (drums) and Bernd Frikke (bass) was the third band in this evening. The rebuilding break lasted very long this time and the band also had to fight with technical problems during the show. The hall filled slowly and the band could be convincing with pensive, partly well danceable and also sounding like rock songs.

Anajo

ANAJO is a pop group from Augsburg. It was founded in 1999. Their latest album is called ‘Hallo, wer kennt hier eigentlich wen?’ and appeared in 2007. This was also the year in when they appeared at the Bundesvision song contest and reached the 9th place with the song ‘Wenn du nur wüßtest’. http://www.anajo.de/

Music & Performance
After a shorter break Oliver Gottwald (voice / guitar), Michael Schmidt (bass / keyboard) and Ingolf Nössner (drums) entered the stage. ANAJO played all their hits like ‘Hotelboy’, ‘Monika Tanzband’ and ‘Hallo, wer kennt hier eigentlich wen’. They knew excellently how to bring the mood within the audience to be boiling up - in spite of the high temperatures in the hall.

Slut

In 1995, the Indie-Rock band SLUT was founded in Ingolstadt. 2004, they received the Kunstförderpreis of the city of Ingolstadt for their musical activities. Moreover, they represented Bavaria at the Bundesvision song contest in 2005. Up to now, they published six albums; the most recent album ‘Still No 1’ was published in 2008. http://www.slut-music.de/

Music & Performance
For the second time during this evening, technical problems appeared and therefore, the rebuilding break also lasted one hour. But then, Christian Neuburger (voice / guitar), Rainer Schaller (guitar), Gerd Rosenacker (bass), Matthias Neuburger (drums) and René Arbeithuber (keyboard) impressed the audience above all with their stage show. Pictures were projected on three screens and every band member had one light bulb on the microphone being luminous to the music. To the grief of all photographers it was absolutely dark except these measures. The songs of SLUT fascinated with melancholy song and guitar riffs rich in energy.
