FIRST NAMES FOR THE METAL DOME, THE GRASPOP UP-AND-COMING STAGE

Now the slots for the main stages are gradually filling up, it’s time to start revealing some names for the Metal Dome. As in recent years, this stage will host new talent! The aim is to showcase bands from the Benelux countries as well as international acts. New for this 2007 edition is the fact that the Metal Dome will be open throughout our three-day marathon instead of being closed on Sunday as in previous editions.

Next bands will be playing in the Metal Dome. The timetable for the Metal Dome will be posted online shortly.

Danish band VOLBEAT is without a doubt one of the bands to look forward to. Their debut ‘The Strength, the Sound, the Songs’ received raving reviews worldwide. Their freshly released second album ‘Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil’ confirms the positive feedback they’ve been generating. Their sound, kind of a Metallica-meets-Life-Of-Agony-meets-Elvis, is groovy as hell and keeps those sweat glands working overtime.

BLOODSIMPLE is no stranger to Graspop. A year after their first visit, this hardcore super group from New York (including former members of Vision Of Disorder and Downset) is getting a second opportunity to convince the Belgian metal crowds.

SPOILER NYC . are newcomers in the truest sense of the word. As their name suggests, this punk trio hails from New York. The best-known band member is this new outfit is singer/bass player Alan Roberts, who will also be playing a set with his other band, Life Of Agony. Their debut ‘Grease Fire in Hell’s Kitchen’ is scheduled for a summer release.

In 2003, Dutch band TEXTURE S burst onto the progressive metal core scene with their critically acclaimed debut ‘Polars’. The album opened doors both in the Benelux and beyond, resulting in a contract with French label Listenable Records. Their follow-up album ‘Drawning Circles’ was released last year.

ASRAI have been around since 1985. Influenced by the punk and dark wave at the time, the band centred around the Dutch twin sisters Karin (drums) and Margriet (vocals) gradually evolved into a gothic rock band with metal accents. Transmission signed Asrai for their second CD ‘Touch in the Dark’, an album that consolidated their status in the Dutch female-fronted metal scene. Their third record will be released soon on the French Seasons Of Mist label.

Formed in 1989, SUHRIM have long since made a name for themselves in the Belgian death metal scene. Death metal fans who frequently attend smaller concerts and festivals will certainly know this Antwerp-based band. More than twenty years of experience in the (mainly Belgian) live circuit is bound to pay off on the Metal Dome stage.

Belgian groove metal orchestra SPOIL ENGINE took third place last year in the well-known Metal Bash contest. The lads have been preaching their own energetic sound to the public at large for several years now and are regularly asked to open for bigger names. Apache Productions is releasing their debut album in May.

Since their 2002 debut ‘Angel Inside’, Belgian band WELKIN have built a respectable live reputation in the underground scene . Recently, this groovy death metal combo finally managed to get their full-length CD ‘The Origin’ released.

One of the most promising Belgian bands at the moment is death metal outfit THURISAZ . Formed in 1997, almost ten years went by before Shiver Records finally signed the sextet. The result of this collaboration is called ‘Circadian Rhythm’ and is set for a late April release.

CRIMSON FALLS and DRAGONLORD are also added to the line-up for the Metal Dome!
