With nine new band confirmations, the M’era Luna 2008 will get much more diverse and there are lots of things you can look forward to: Gothic Metal from PARADISE LOST, DAF in their original line-up, wild shows of AGONOIZE, SAMAEL or CINEMA STRANGE just to name a few. Our new additions are:

PARADISE LOST | DAF | SAMAEL | EPICA |AGONOIZE | CINEMA STRANGE | THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS | RABENSCHREY | IRFAN

With their current album ‘In Requiem’ PARADISE LOST the inventors of the Gothic Metal show their still one of the strongest and most influential bands of the genre after 10 years. Singer Nick Holmes comments the album as following: “We wanted to make a dark and heavy PARADISE LOST album without neglecting the melodic elements if the albums of the last 10 years”. Musically it’s about the balance between brutality and empathy, between horror and beauty. The album delivers the complete bandwidth of emotions framed by life and death.

DAF or “DEUTSCHE AMERIKANISCHE FREUNDSCHAFT” is performing together again. In 2008 DAF will finally return and they’re celebrating their reunion at the M’era Luna like back in the old days, they will yell one watchword after the other into the dancing freaks in front of the stage: ‘Sato-Sato’, ‘Als wärs das letzte Mal’, ‘Muskel’ or ‘Verschwende deine Jugend’. We expect that no classic will be left out.

At the beginning of the 90s SAMAEL laid the Black Metal foundation for a whole generation with their first album ‘Worship him!’ Ever since, their sound has constantly evolved. After over a decade of touring, hundreds of performances in Europe and America including some legendary festival gigs, the band really earned their reputation as unbelievable live band.

When EPICA at first lost their record deal and later their drummer in 2006, this could have been the end. But EPICA is back with a great new album ‘The Divine Conspiracy’. The symphonic metal band fronted by the charismatic singer Simone Simmons borrowed their name from an album of the band KAMELOT who are very much appreciated by the members of EPICA. Musically they not only make use of elements from the world of rock (and Symphonic Metal) but also from film scores like they are being composed by Danny Elfman or Hans Zimmer.

Hard, harder, AGONOIZE. Those who have once seen the energetic splatter shows of the trio from Berlin fronted by singer Chris L and the keyboard berserks Mike Johnson and Oliver Senger know: Where other bands in the dark electro genre pretend to be big men in their music and their lyrics, mostly turn out to be wannabes and a joke on stage, AGONOIZE waste no time and provide a suitable visual equivalent to their Aggro sound: A gore inferno with spark spraying machines, lots of fake blood and a good portion of self irony Jörg Buttgereit would be very happy about including one of the most brute Beats vs. Sequencer combinations, the hard-floor industrial genre has to offer right now.

With sometimes a dozen or more artists being on stage, the performance of CINEMA STRANGE are legendary and popular in the dark scene. Their music has evolved to an own species. The early Post Punk roots are still sense able, enriched with flamboyant sounds, musical storytelling and the courage to walk new paths again and again; they’re taking on the thread, where bands the VIRGIN PRUNES left off.

THE LEGANDARY PINK DOTS are surrounded by a strange aura. With their partly customized instruments, they’re creating dark, weird sounds and melodies to which a slender man - with a coat, sunglasses and strange lines drawn into his face - sings apocalyptic songs that are sending cold shivers down your spine.

Donar of RABENSCHREY founded the band in 2000. Lutes and drums were the instrumental fundament at the beginning, where the chant should play a major part. To walk own musical paths and to write all the music and the lyrics was an absolute priority from the very beginning to the present day. Thereof an own style was created, RABENSCHREY themselves describe as “Heathen Medieval Folk”. Fans and critics agree that it’s a lush live music experience to see RABENSCHREY perform live.

Bulgarian band, French label, world music. Even if you hadn’t heard anything from IRFAN before, these facts say a lot about the band and their music. Their songs are colourful collections of melodies, influenced by folk and musical traditions of the Balkan, the Mediterranean area and the orient.
