The Killers
With their 2004 release ‘Hot Fuss’, THE KILLERS crashed into the Indie cosmos like a supernova and with the second album ‘Sam’s Town’ (2006) as well as the rarities and B-Side collection ‘Sawdust’ (2007), they exceeded the expectations even further. Singer and Keyboard player Brandon Flowers said in an interview with the music magazine NME: “I don’t have the feeling; we already reached the limits of our abilities. I plan to learn even more to get a much better singer. I will also be a better songwriter and we’ll all get better, no matter what we do. I find that very exciting.” WE look forward to THE KILLERS just as they are.

Beatsteaks
Is a bomb (Respectively a grenade, rocket, dynamite or any other martial term), accentuating the musical brisance of our 5 friends”. This is the highest praise THE BEATSTEAKS have to offer. Don’t get us wrong. The five Berlin based musicians are pacifists. Thorsten Scholz defines the word as follows: “Totally cool, absolutely crass mega phat respectively wonderful, enchanting, nice or tight Pal” The goal for ‘Limbo Messiah’ - the current album - was clear: “We just wanted to bring some bombs respectively so to the starting line again” says singer Armin Teutoburg-Weiß. Everyone who has already experienced them live knows they’re taking that self-imposed mission deadly serious. We recommend all others: Open your eyes and ears as something’s coming.

Serj Tankian
..is not the one, you used to know [He’s better]. The born in Lebanon, grown wild, Armenian- American poet rose far above his voice and his hair length and has transformed to real fire and sulphur. A melodic visionary, sitting on a cannonball, travelling through the skies at the speed of light and bashing a chord out of every cloud. His first solo album ‘Elect the Dead’ (2007), where the SYSTEM OF A DOWN founding member practically plays every instrument himself has a much bigger reach than the US Rocket Defence System and it blows up all current parameters of “political” and “intellectual” music.

Dresden Dolls
…are considered one of the last individualists in the music scene. Because of this, the Boston based duo also delivered a genre category together with the debut: ‘Brechtian Punk Cabaret’. After many people thought, the DRSDEN DOLLS had become more conventional and orient themselves more on established rock song dramaturgy, one can be curios which way they will go with the new album ‘No, Virginia’ due for release at the end of May. Live, we can expect a burlesque Punk Cabaret Galore.

The Subways
…are damn young and damn successful. Praised by NME and Q before their debut ‘Young For Eternity’ was even released, they supported some veritable bands like GRAHAM COXON, THE VON BONDIES, THE DATSUNS, CHARLOTTE HATHERLEY, THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY etc. Michael Evins invited them to the other stage of the Glastonbury Festival, where they won the New Band Competition. Shortly after that, they played the “Reading and Leeds festivals”. Not bad for a band with an average age of 20 years, coming from the geographical nowhere. THE SUBWAYS fabricate a wonderful mixture of song writing maturity and teenage eagerness, which is full of a hormone driven soul with juvenile ruthlessness.

Slut
It is already known, that the ways of SLUT are unorthodox. But now it’s getting clear, that their excursion into the theatre genre with a version of the Brecht-Weill ‘Dreigroschenoper’ really impressed the international Feuilleton, which doesn’t bring the expected end, but a new beginning. Four years after ‘All We Need Is Silence’ with a bang ‘Still No.1’, the new studio album demonstrates why SLUT belongs to the top of the German guitar fraction. The time of reduction is over With Choirs, accordions, strings, musical saws, wind blowers, piano and apocalyptic guitar walls, they’re drawing on unlimited sources.

Louis XIV
As support for i.e. THE KILLERS with the established formula: Sex, Drugs and Rock’n’Roll = Success, they quickly made their narks. Musically there’s always a shimmer of 70s Glam Rock, just like the early Stones, T-REX and THE FALL or on the best Art Brut Tradition. The second album ‘Slick Dogs & Ponies’ is in stores since February. The boys didn’t loose their dirty humour in the lyrics and therefore the “Explicit Lyrics” button. We recommend you to have a closer look at the detailed melodies and arrangements too.

Yeasayer
… are four multi instrumentalists, singer and songwriter. Live, they’re setting the Boogie free and provide for rhythmic heat waves. They’re getting inspired by the sound of the past decades and stylistically they’re gazing far beyond the limits of the western world.  A richness of influences can be found in the songs of YEASAYER. You can find African as well as east European melodies and sounds from India and all this in a damn cool Indie style
