Amphi Festival 2008
The Amphi festival is nearly sold-out. Since last weekend, the presale contingents are drained. For all spontaneous people, they’ve kept back some tickets, you can reserve from Monday, 14th July 2008 to Thursday, 18th July 2008 daily from 11:00 Am to 6:00 PM under the following phone number: +49(0)5131-4620923 for the box office price. The box office price is 60 EUR for Weekend tickets and 45 EUR for 1-Day tickets (Saturday or Sunday). Please also consider that all reserved tickets have to be picked up until 4:00 on the event day. Of course there will be festival tickets available at the location. Therefore we keep the box office open on both festival days from 10:00 AM – 9:30 PM
Already on Friday 18th July 2008, Cologne will be the scenery for a whole new play. At 7:30, at Cologne’s Indoor Soccer Hall, the first Amphi Cup 2008 begins. Five teams consisting of VIPs, festival attendees, press representatives, sponsors and organizers will take part in a soccer tournament for the benefit of the German children’s hospice in Cologne with Eskil and Joakim of COVENANT, Jens & Gerrit (FUNKER VOGT), Dirk Scheuber (PROJECT PITCHFORK), Manuel, Norman and Michael of ZERAPHINE and many more. Following the Sports DJ Elvis takes on the command at Cologne’s old waiting room (Alter Wartesaal) with the official Amphi Festival Pre Party under the motto “Depeche Mode Party vs Sleepwalking Night”. Musically Elvis and his team will provide a colourful mixture of Synth Pop, EBM, Electro, New Wave, 80`s, Bodypop, Futurepop and of course lots of DEPECHE MODE hits. Besides some exclusive VIP guests, video animation on three projection walls, you can expect a raffle with process like T-Shirts, Weekend tickets for the Amphi Festival and many more. Furthermore all guests who appear between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM get a welcome drink for free. On presentation of your Amphi festival ticket you only play half of the admission, meaning only 4 EUR. After a sportive and musical attunement, it gets serious on Saturday morning. As of 10:30 AM 34 bands on 2 stages, signing sessions, move presentations and after show parties at the theatre and many, many more await you. OOMPH! as headliner on Saturday will open your eyes and ears with songs from their upcoming album. Virtuosic sound gadgets and a sonorous baritone of Alexander Veljanov await you at the Best of show of DEINE LAKAIEN on the other hand, while Swedish electro experts COVENT pump some Ritual Noise into the Tanzbrunnen. Joining in will be more highlights like ZEROMANCER, WELLE:ERDBALL, ZERAPHINE, CINDERELLA EFFECT and the Orkus newcomer MINA HARKER. While the main stage shines with stylistic variety and provides a broad mix of musical top acts, the Saturday at the Theatre is all dedicated to the machines, leading the way with Andy LaPlegua (Combichrist) can expect a hot night with NOISUF-X, NACHTMAHR, ASHBURY HEIGHTS, GRENDEL, ROTERSAND, the HAUJOBB farewell concert, as well as an exclusive guest play of the electro legend THE KLINIK. On Sunday, the theatres motto is “Nothing is impossible, everything is allowed”. After the presentation of the WELLE:ERDBALL movie ‘Operation Zeitsturm’, the Gothic Stage shines with kaleidoscopic richness. Whether it’s Death Rock from the US (CINEMA STRANGE), Satan’s ring tones with SOKO FRIEDHOF, the Dutch dark wave veterans CLAN OF XYMOX or powerful Gothic Metal with LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE, there’s something for every taste.
Not to forget the highlights on the evening with the definite jackhammer EISBRECHER, followed by DIARY OF DREAMS and DIE KRUPPS as concluding show at midnight. On the main stage the Sunday starts with some musical tender loving care from the MEDIAEVAL BABES, followed by the Italian temper of the gothic rockers THE LOVECRAVE. The LETZTE INSTANZ comes from Dresden and as usual will bring the Tanzbrunnen to a boil, right in time for stage volcano Stefan Ackermann and DAS ICH whose musical blaze surely will provide for a hot night. At the European Championships they had to leave early but at the Amphi Festival they’re always first choice: Exclusive t the Amphi 2008 is Austria’s scene band #1 L’AME IMMORTELLE with a melange of romantic Gothic Rock and captivating electro anthems
Unrelenting power comes with SUICIDE COMMANDO; the musical cleaner commando around Johan van Roy knows too well how to unleash a captivating storm of lush beats and pumping adrenaline, followed by the Hamburg-based electro pioneers PROJECT PITCHFORK subsequently spellbound you with elaborate arrangements and demanding lyrics, before AND ONE close the program with a gigantic 80s party. Who celebrates also has to rest and so we’re very happy to announce you the Beach Club ‘KM 689’ 3500 square metres beach, Beach bar and cosy deckchairs on the Rhine’s shores invite you to chill in a convenient holiday atmosphere, you shouldn’t miss.
Also new in the program are the extended sanitary facilities. In addition to the existing toilets at the theatre as well as left beside the main stage, this year also the toilets of the adjacent Rheinparkhalle are available for a short box stop; flagged, mirrored and with constant water, also this year’s Amphi festivals needs no Dixis
