Now the 19th W:O:A is also part of our history and there are four things remaining in our memory:- The best audience in the world
- Mercy less good bands with amazing performances
- The sun is truly north German
- It is possible without traffic jams
We want to thank you all for your amazing Support because without it we won´t be what we are: The greatest Heavy Metal Festival in the world! (Also o-tone from Bruce Dickinson)
Our huge construction arrangements as for example the bus stop, removing the infield barrier, new stages, new delay towers and so on worked perfectly. Further we want to take you all fears - the W:O:A won´t grow any further - otherwise it hadn´t been sold out since march! In 2007 we had 72500 visitors and in 2008 we had 75000 (artists, helpers, crew from all sections, press, VIP´s and townsfolk, security and paying visitors inclusive).
The only week point was the situation at the entrance 1 to the infield during the gig of Iron Maiden. The fans have only taken entrance no 1 without realizing that 2+3 and even the entrance to the party stage were also opened. Through this it came to several waiting times and a temporary closed entrance. This unfortunately worked first on Friday. Next year we will install a traffic light system to guarantee the working visitor traffic. We have the space, but if all people want to take the direct way to the stage, we will fast reach the end.

Also we want to thank all citizens of the townships Wacken, Gribbohm, Holstenniendorf, Besdorf, Bokelrehm, Bokhorst and Nienbuettel for their hospitality for all the meatlheads from all over the world and their willingness for signposting their towns with flags and infoboards! We are happy about this amazing support and identification with your/our festival!
More about the W:O:A 2008 will follow! The festival is the headliner and the bands are playing their best of program… We are looking forward for the next year when it´s about to the 20th time to say: Faster - Harder - Louder << see you in Wacken 2009 - rain or shine >> Thank you all Metalheads for your support!
