From 15th to 17th it lured 25.000 music fans to the Stausee Hohenfelden. Right in time for the first band on Friday evening, the rain receded away; and already during the SUBWAYS gig, ten thousands of people danced in front of the stage ad followed the announcement and gestures of singer Billy Lunn.

During TOCOTRONIC, the rain surrendered for good and the first Highfield evening became a fest with the PLAIN WHITE T’S, SPRTFREUNDE STILLER with a sing-a-long potpourri and the frenetically celebrated performance of THE KILLERS. The performances of KAIZERS ORCHESTRA and the eccentric DRESDEN DOLLS at the Coca Cola Soundwave tent also were more than well received.

The punk rockers of HIFI HANDGRANADES opened the Saturday as surprise act on the main stage and with moody rock of FIRE IN THE ATTIC and STATE RADIO, the politically correct Gypsy Punk of GORGOL BORDELLO and Folk Rock of FLOGGING MOLLY it was a fairly rocking afternoon. The perfect soil for the style icons of THE HIVES one of their legendary live shows; self-confident as always, they departed with the words “You can go home now, there’s nothing more to come” These guys know the meaning of ‘attitude’

The festival attendees dissented and celebrated the show of DIE ÄRZTE from the first tone to the last corner; the crowd sang and jumped, sat down and got up again, just as the band told them; and when Farin Urlaub demanded the crowd to throw their cups on stage as a donation to the drinking water project Viva con Aqua, he unleashed a real avalanche. Over 1000 cups flew from the back to the middle; and then on stage.

The two bands can prove who’s the world’s best band at the Area4 festival from 29th to 31st August, where they’ll each headline one evening.

The evening on the tent stage started quite calm with Henry Rollins and his critical but very entertaining anecdotes, but LOUIS XIV managed to crash one amp and the tent trembled, during the show of I AM KLOOT and their wonderful singer with the raw guitar.

Bright sunlight and a well-tempered JENNIFER ROSTOCK already lured many attendees out of their tents on Saturday noon. Similar to Saturday, the rock potential on the main stage increased in the further course of the day from Mx PX over LESS THAN JAKE, MADSEN SERJ TANKIAN AND THE F.C.C and the DROPKICK MONKEYS to the BEATSTEAKS and they drained the last bit of party energy from the people. Same at the tent; detailed rock sound with the GUTTER TWINS, punk without bass from the BLOOD RED SHOES, stream guitar walls from SLUT and crazy electro punk crossover from MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE made the sweat drip from the ceiling.

That was the complete line-up:
