Dear friends of SUMMER BREEZE!
A long festival summer is about to end and also the 11th issue of SUMMER BREEZE is over. But after the game is before the game as they say in football business. So there is quite a lot to do after the festival. First of all we had to dismantle everything we had built up and clean the spaces. Also the fields which were destroyed by the rain need to be rebuilt. But first changes for 2009 are being made already and internally the team keeps discussing about all the experiences made. Many things worked out well. But we don’t want to hush up the negative things which happened, too.
One of the biggest points of criticism was the traffic mess on the wednesday without doubt. To stop rumours here is why: It was pretty obvious that 30 hours of rain right before we have opened the camping space would affect the condition of the ground. Due to the experiences we made in 2007 we decided to move the car check positions outside the camping ground right on the street and restructure them. Unfortunately this plan did not work out. More than 80% of the people arrived on that Wdenesday which was unforeseeable. The biggest problem was the soggy ground. The traffic jam did not come up to to the glass checks only but mainly because we could not manage to spread the people onto the site. In addition to that road works around Dinkelsbuehl made the local people use the main street also which stressed the traffic, too. The official instructions to lead the traffic to the site from only one direction is something which will be discussed again by the municipal authorities. To make one thing clear, the police has not made any car checks during that day. They were trying to help solving the problem. Additional delays were caused by a drunken driver who let two other drunken people sit on his car’s bonnet. It happened what had to. They fell off and were overran by the car. Heavily injured they needed to go to hospital. That quite many who never learn still ignore the glass prohibition was not a big help speeding the traffic up either. This way it takes twice as long per car. Discussions with the staff about one being unhappy about the space one had been forwarded to kept slowing everything down, too and have probably made some sucurities fed up and angry. One thing lead to another. It is certain we do feel responsible and we will take care. In 2009 again quite some things will be changed, even radically in parts.
Also the toilettes and shower situation needs to be reconsidered. These general problems are known for years. But it is a shame that some idiots cause so much damage to the others.
We do take your criticisms serious and have therefore checked the entire internet forum and are about to find solutions. We started a huge questionnaire on www.summer-breeze.de. Please take a bit of time to answer the questions to help us considering your demands.
Right then. Let’s come to the BREEZE 2009. The new homepage layout is up and running and today we start selling tickets for next year. The first 10.000 tickets will each come with a free bonus SUMMER BREEZE DVD. On this you can find clips of 2006 and 2007. This DVD cannot be purchased anywhere else than in our online shop in connection with a ticket order for 2009. And it is for free. Isn’t that an offer you cannot resist?
As many of you know already since SUMMER BREEZE we have some bands confirmed for 2009 already. The bands are: AMON AMARTH, BRAINSTORM, CANTUS BURANUS (Corvus Corax), J.B.O., LEGION OF THE DAMNED, SCHANDMAUL, UNHEILIG and VOLBEAT. usual.
These days everything gets more and more expensive. You probably have realised this. Throughout the years we have always tried to catch up increased costs on our end by optimised calculations. It simply did not work this year in some regards. Meanwhile we have reached a limit regarding the visitors capacity. Saving money at the wrong points can cause tremendous problems processing the festival. Any change to the better is unfortunately connected with higher costs. Our demand and yours, too does not allow to save at the wrong part. Therefore we will increase the price for the SUMMER BREEZE 2009 for a three days ticket to 70,- EUR incl. camping and parking which is still a moderate price. We hope you do understand this situation we are in. Thank you for your cooperation.
Well, that’s it to finalise the BREEZE 2008. As previously mentioned planings for 2009 have started already and as soon as we will have more info regaring we will get back to you immediataley.
