DORNENREICH (AUT) - „metal show“
DORNENREICH is a tricky name, as it has two meanings: „realm of thorns“ (noun) and „full of thorns“ (adjective). Nevertheless it ideally describes the vanguard attitude of the band, which was founded by Thomas „Valñes“ Stock, who left the band in 2006. The band started with black metal and moved on to more gentle tunes, which were presented to the public by mainly using acoustic guitars for their shows. They announced that their upcomming album „Flammentriebe“ will be some kind of back-to-the-roots. Consequently their show at the Ragnarök Festival won't include many acoustic guitars, but the full power of e-guitars, which they haven't showed for quite a long time.
COR SCORPII (NOR)
Some festival-organizer once cheekily argued that „all of Norway is some kind of ex-Windir“. Undoubtably at some points he's right. At least if you look at COR SCORPII, who got two members from legendary Windir in their lineup: Gaute Refsnes and Stian Bakketeig. On top of that they have two very important things: Musical self-reliance and some Windir-qualities. This is proved by their newest album „Monument“, which got excellent reviews from the whole metal press.

Coming from Norway as well, SARKOM will make the black metallers hearts beat more quickly and happier – at least if they got any. They play the Darkthrone way of top notch authentic black metal, but also try to get in touch with elements from other extreme or experimental genres. If you need any further foretaste, watch out for their upcoming new album „Bestial Supremacy“, which will be released on the 14th of November.

Furthermore it's now possible to order tickets (10 EUR each), which allow you to use sleeping-hall 1, which is only 50m away from the festival venue. At the moment we are trying to get a new second sleeping hall, which is nearer at the cityhall than the old one.
