Finnish goth-metallers H.I.M. have launched a weekly podcast to document the progress of their forthcoming as-yet-untitled new album, due out later this year on Sire.

H.I.M. have entered Los Angeles' Paramour studios to work on the follow-up to 2003's "Love Metal". According to singer Ville Valo, the upcoming CD, which is being produced by Tim Palmer (who worked on the band's last album), will feature "really fast songs but with a melodic punky MISFITS feel to them."

"Basically it's me being gay and the rest of the guys being even more gay to try to be metal!" Valo told Kerrang!

In keeping with recent speculation, "Under the Rose", an acoustic ballad Valo debuted at a U.K. gig last year as a result of a power failure at Portsmouth's Guildhall venue, will feature on the album, which is scheduled for release in October, but with a new twist.

"Now it's its going to be the fastest most ferocious song on there," the singer revealed.

H.I.M.'s forthcoming album will be preceded by a single release in August and a "Love Metal Archives Vol. 1" DVD featuring videos, live footage and rare interviews in early May. Ville Valo and his cohorts have also lined up a handful of European and Japanese festival appearances during the summer.
