eskimocallboy crystalsWithout a homely couch to success! Since their establishment in 2010, ESKIMO CALLBOY have caused quite a sensation and shown that the German music scene has new surprises in store from time to time. Whenever the six guys from the placid Castrop Rauxel are mentioned they are associated with all sorts of superlatives – rapid rise, million clicks on YouTube, sold out tours, crazy shows and even crazier parties. Sounds like a true rock star life but it takes a lot of work to reach that state. Most of all, the guys remain at the wheel. They write and produce almost all of their songs and record on their own. This method has not changed with their third record ‘Crystals’, to be released March 20th, 2015.

Except the mastering which is taken over by a friend everything remains in the hands of the band until the end. With this attitude the band has already driven other label partners, promoters and friends crazy because ‘Crystals’ has developed into a true mammoth project. Only in the last three months has the record changed to a 180 degrees even though the guys didn't set an own deadline this time. With their former records ‘We are the Mess’ and ‘Bury me in Vegas’, ESKIMO CALLBOY already built up tensions as they always follow the motto “it's only going to be wicked if we find it wicked ourselves”. In order to achieve that, ESKIMO CALLBOY locked themselves away in a hut in Holland in order to break with established routines and fully concentrate on ‘Crystals’. Away from a comfortable couch, bed and friends it's easier to work harder. The boot camp has definitely paid off as ‘Crystals’ shows new influences and diversity and it will probably surprise quite a few ESKIMO CALLBOY fans.

One of the biggest surprises is most likely the song ‘Best Day’ as it's a collaboration with the Hip Hop star SIDO. “I know that everyone is going to hate us for this song but we have always wanted to make a hip hop song. We all love rap and thought about a potential partner. Nowadays, SIDO doesn't only include the typical hip hop topics in his lyrics so we could picture a collaboration with him quite well. Through our label we got into touch with SIDO who liked what we make and the rest is history.” As extraordinary as this cooperation may seem at first, ESKIMO CALLBOY have always played and experimented with different styles and influences. No matter whether Electro, Hardcore, Pop or Metal, the sextet does not believe in genre borders. The guys who have always remained true to themselves are either loved or hated for that. Kevin explains: “When we started the band and nobody knew us we only did what we liked. Why should that change now?”

With that unconventional nature ESKIMO CALLBOY did not only make friends as they are constantly confronted with sharp criticism and ill will. Especially for the self-proclaimed scene police are the guys a perfect target. As the band doesn't see itself as the “conventional metal act” they take such comments and critiques lightly and keep on making their music proudly. All in one are ESKIMO CALLBOY a unity; no matter whether in songwriting, production or show, the decisions are made together. Everybody is included so that creative ideas can turn into songs, stage outfits and shows. The expectations are not getting lower after former shows. Fortunately ESKIMO CALLBOY can be understood as a transformative artistic synthesis as they venture their next big step with ‘Crystals’, the upcoming tours and festivals in Europe.
