neuroticfish asignoflifeWe have changed. The world has changed. NEUROTICFISH's fourth record ‘A Sign of Life’ is released on 27th March, 2015 on their own label NOR and includes 15 songs, among others the club hit ‘Silence’ and the duet ‘The Creep’ with guest vocals by CINDERGARDEN's Jaymie Valentine. It's the tenth year after ‘Gelb’, the record in which NEUROTICFISH successfully fused industrial, EBM and pop into one. Not only was it the record including ‘Bomb’ which conquered all club floors but also the record which had torn apart the band for now. With ‘Bomb’ they worked off the apparent necessity to be constantly mobile and available. Who would have thought back then that smartphones and social media would permeate every part of our life which makes us more available, analysable and predictable.

Nowadays, everything seems available but nothing is tangible anymore. Exactly at this point of time do Henning Verlage and Sascha Mario Klein decide to re-invoke NEUROTICFISH. ‘A Sign of Life’ is not only the title of the upcoming record, it is also the concept with which NEUROTICFISH define themselves anew. They make themselves scarce..., only few concerts..., limited releases..., targeted impulses that stand out of the noise floor of the scene. After two long years of production, ‘A Sign of Life’ is finally ready. There are few songs by NEUROTICFISH which do not deal with the topic of fear. In ‘A Sign of Life’ they delve even further and deeper. What is fear? How does it come into being? Which influence does fear have on our lives, on our behaviour?

The principle of fusion remains the musical core concept and is led on in 15 songs. For example does ‘The Creep’ celebrate the musical beginnings and the sound of the debut ‘No Instruments’. Specifically for that did CINDERGARDEN's Jaymie Valentine contribute her vocals to. This way the first duet of the band history came into being and the California girl provides the perfect counterpart to Klein's vocals with her spoken words. ‘Silence’ does not only combine synth pop with progressive trance and techno and traces of EDM and complex are also detectable. As known, this granted them another number 1 position in the DAC charts. ‘Agony’ integrates successfully Dubstep with synth pop whereas ‘Caliban’ goes back to Verlage's and Klein's industrial roots influenced by HAUJOBB and FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY. NEUROTICFISH is no border crossers because borders belong to the past.
