saltatiomortis zirkuszeitgeist akustik
SALTATIO MORTIS surprise us with a new and exciting acoustic record! After their current record `Zirkus Zeitgeist´ immediately reached the top of the German album charts, the eight musicians from southern Germany didn't rest on their laurels. Only a few days after their spectacular, second No. 1 in a row, the thoroughbred musicians secluded themselves once again in the studio to work on new recordings.

After `Zirkus Zeitgeist´ turned the focus upon the contemporary zeitgeist and its quite ugly face, the band now goes back to its roots. In those days, when the minstrels played “Ohne Strom und Stecker” (“without power or plug”) on the corner of the street and small wooden stages there were no “rock sounds” but acoustic instruments at the heart of their music. Since `Zirkus Zeitgeist´ was a latter-day rock production SALTATIO MORTIS were curious how the songs might sound unplugged. After a few attempts, this much was certain: The band entrenched itself in the studio to look back deliberately...

Still, `Zirkus Zeitgeist - Ohne Strom und Stecker´, to be released on November 27, doesn't present an “old” sound, but is rather the product of eight musicians who have reached their modern sound and, after 15 years of experience, reinterpret their songs from `Zirkus Zeitgeist´. The acoustic versions of the songs sound intimate and, every once in a while, there's also a big portion of fun. You can hear SALTATIO MORTIS' love for acoustic instruments and the characteristic twinkle in their eyes quite literally in every single note. This acoustic album is a musical treat, and not just to long-term followers of the band.

And that's not all! With `Willkommen in der Weihnachtszeit´ (“Welcome to Christmas time”) and `Maria´ it sounded like Yuletide already this summer. On the limited deluxe edition of `Zirkus Zeitgeist - Ohne Strom und Stecker´, the band put together a festive bonus CD entitled `Fest der Liebe´ (“Feast of Love”)! With four new Christmassy songs they will sweeten the holiday season in their very own way: Christmas with bagpipes, e-guitars and snappy lyrics – ho, ho, ho!
