KEITH RICHARDS is releasing his acclaimed second solo album ‘Main Offender’ as a super deluxe limited edition box set, which also includes the previously unreleased concert gem ‘Winos Live In London 92’ - a live performance recorded at London’s legendary Town & Country Club in London Kentish Town. The special edition will be released on March 18 via BMG. The collection also includes an 88-page book with unpublished photos, illustrations of handwritten lyrics, collected essays from the original album release and much more. Completing the box set is an archival sleeve featuring reprints of promotional and tour materials from Keith’s personal archive. With ‘Main Offender’, KEITH RICHARDS now presents the next highlight from his extensive treasure trove, which follows the release of last year’s ‘Live At The Hollywood Palladium’ and the now legendary first solo album ‘Talk Is Cheap’, released in 2019.The album was originally released in October 1992, four years after ‘Talk Is Cheap’ and was recorded by the much-respected X-Pensive Winos: Namely the drummer Steve Jordan, known for his many years of collaboration (who also appeared together with the ROLLING STONES on their ‘No Filter’ Tour in the United States), guitarist Waddy Wachtel, bassist Charley Drayton, keyboardist Ivan Neville, vocalist Sarah Dash, and backing vocalists Bernard Fowler and Babi Floyd. ‘Main Offender’s ten gripping tracks include the electrifying singles ‘Wicked As It Seems’, ‘Eileen’ and ‘Hate It When You Leave’. The album was produced by KEITH RICHARDS, Waddy Wachtel and Steve Jordan, who is also responsible for mixing the live bonus album.
KEITH on the release: “This is the second time for us and the Winos are developing slowly but surely. I’m trying to keep these guys together as long as possible. They are one of the best bands in the world. An extremely fascinating formation whose full potential is just beginning to unfold. If I hadn’t been touring with the Winos this album would have been totally different for sure. I tried not to reveal too much on this album. For me, this special ambiguity, the mysterious and also a certain provocation factor is important. Getting people to think has a lot more power than just raising your finger and saying, ‘I know exactly what he’s trying to say. Don’t do this, do that’. As a musician, silence is your canvas. Care is taken not to fill them out completely, but also to leave gaps. Otherwise, you tell everything. The most interesting parts of music are the ones you're not playing.”
The new ‘Main Offender’ super deluxe box set is available as an exclusive collector’s case, which comes with a removable, hand-numbered print of the original unedited portrait of the album cover artwork. In addition, the box contains a unique art book with an album pressing in smoke-coloured vinyl. ‘Main Offender’s LP and CD have been remastered under the supervision of original producer and X-Pensive Winos member Steve Jordan. The exclusive ‘Winos Live In London 92’ recording puts the listener right in the front row of the show and includes previously unreleased versions of ‘Eileen’, ‘Hate It When You Leave’, ‘Happy’ and more.
