Most people know Billy Bob Thornton as actor or the cracked up ex-husband of Angelina Jolie. But since 2001 he’s also a musician and releases his meanwhile fifth album in his new formation THE BOXMASTERS.

THE BOXMASTERS are: W.R. 'Billy Bob' Thornton (Drums, Vocals / Background Vocals), J.D. Andrew (Guitar, Bass, Background Vocals) and Mike Butler (Guitar). Together with Billy Bob they’re now releasing the double CD ‘The Boxmasters’. The sound is a combination of the influences of THE BEATLES, THE ROLLING STONES, JOHNNY Cash and HANK WILLIAMS. The up-tempo beats and infecting arrangements remind of the 1960s, but stand in sharp contrast to the dark topics they pick up in their lyrics.

The tension that is created between the lyrical theme and the music leads to a unique musical experience, only THE BOXMASTERS can produce in such a great way. The first CD comprises of partly auto-biographical songs like ‘The Who’, ‘The Kids are allright’ or ‘I want to hold your hands’ from THE BEATLES. Thornton feels honoured to transform a hit of THE BEATLES into his Hillbilly sound, like he’s calling the musical genre to find on ‘The Boxmasters’. Among those 23 tracks one can find old, precious treasures in a new sound costume and new jewels that can become one.
