Hamburg, July 2007. Three pictures are being replaced with worthless copies at the Eremitage in St. Petersburg. Actually a usual art robbery, but the leader of the art heist division of St. Petersburg’s police Colonel Ostankovic knows more. He suspects a mysterious secret organization to be responsible for the robberies. The game makes reference to an order, relatively unknown to outsiders. This order has made a pint of not letting specific pictures see the light of day, so the blow off piece by piece for centuries. Colonel Ostankovic knows about that and sounds the alarm. He puts Larisa Ivanovna Svetlova, one of his best employees and also working for Interpol, on the case. Larisa contacts Maxim Durand, a former art forger, who already helped the police a couple of times with his insider knowledge, so the player has 2 main characters in Memento Mori.
