Wave Gotik Treffen
Every year on Whitsun it seems as if Leipzig has been displaced to a different time or at least to a strange and beautiful world, where black is the dominating color and whose inhabitants have come together to an annual meeting. There are as usual quite a lot of things to discover in the German city those days in May. Up to now, about 100 bands have confirmed their performance, and there will be surely some more appearing on this biggest event concerning the Gothic subculture worldwide. http://www.wave-gotik-treffen.de/
Beside such well-known artists as MOONSPELL, ZERAPHINE, AMORPHIS, FRONT 242, UNTOTEN, CINEMA STRANGE and SUBWAY TO SALLY there will also be some special highlights taking place on this 16th WGT, like QNTAL doing a singular show together with ESTAMPIE and guests and an additional acoustic concert by ASP. On more than ten stages, like the old "Moritzbastei", there will be featured sounds from Electro to Neofolk and from Gothic Metal to Dark Wave. But not only this immense variety of bands from all corners of the gloomy music universe makes this event so attractive. There will be plenty of other distractions like a medieval market place and a pagan village, fashion shows and authors reading from their writings, and also different artists performing or showing their opus. In one of the huge halls of the "Agra" fairground there will also be the possibility of supplying oneself with new clothes and accessories in the surely biggest Goth store in Germany. And above all other things, the Wave Gotik Treffen will again be a wonderful possibility of meeting friends from all over Germany you haven't seen for ages, getting to know people from all over the world and celebrating in a peaceful and familiar atmosphere.
Tickets
Treffen-Event-Ticket
The 4-days ticket for all events within the 16th Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2006 is 58 Euro in advance ticket sale (including pre-sales fee). The Treffen ticket includes free use of public transportation (tram, city-busses, regional trains, suburban trains) within the zone 110 of MDV ("Mitteldeutscher Verkehrs Verbund") from 2006-05-25 12.00h to 2006-05-29 12.00h (without special routes). Promoters have changed the time in support of the day of departure. Please keep in mind that it is only allowed to use the public transport at this time with the Treffen ticket. There will be additional nightlines especially for WGT visitors on line 11 (gathering line).
Parking Vignette
To be able to park your car at the Treffen-area you have to get a "Parking Vignette" for 15 Euro (including pre-sales fee). Please note: Parking at the Treffen-area (Agra-fairground) is definitely impossible without a "Parking Vignette".
"Obsorge" ticket
Limited up to 9999 Tickets for 21 Euro (including pre-sales fee), contains the following service-package:
- Camping at the Treffen-Campground (Agra-fairground)
- Silver Disc (Compact Disc) "Artists at the 16th WGT"
- "Pfingstbote" ("Whitsun-herald") - the Treffen-programbook
Please note: Entrance to and use of the campground is impossible without an "Obsorge" ticket. The "Obsorge" ticket is only valid in connection with the Treffen-Event-Ticket.
Tickets can be ordered at the festival website. The consignment of the ordered tickets will start at the beginning of March.
