From 19th to 20th July, they say again “D´r Goth Kütt” (The Goth comes) in Cologne, when the Amphi Festival - in its fourth season - invites to the dark dance at the sign of the thorn and the pulsating Rhine metropolis - following an old carnival-esque shout “D´r Zoch Kütt” (The Procession comes) - welcomes their extraordinary guests. Last year already 9.000 fans celebrated an ecstatic party with top acts from Gothic, Electro and Medieval within the black family’s circle whose peaceful attitude and friendly behaviour doesn’t fit to the dark look at first sight. And yet the old cologne maxim (live and let live) is a credo of the scene for a long time.
Venue for this year’s Amphi Festival will again be the Tanzbrunnen at the lakeside promenades of the Rhine, which gives utterance to the saying (Cologne, you’re an emotion) like no other with its historic district panorama and free view on the cologne cathedral. With 32 bands on 2 stages - Open Air as well as in the theatre - the Amphi Festival remains true to itself and again provides a top program with top quality acts and extraordinary pearls of the scene, from the kilt to the electro hammer, between harshness and dark romantic.
Amongst highlights like: AND ONE, COVENANT & PROJECT PITCHFORK and a exclusive festival appearance of DEINE LAKAIEN there’ll be the meeting of the generations, when the Norwegian hellectro strikers of COMBICHRIST meet up with the old school legend THE KLINIK. Also party grenades like SUICIDE COMMANDO, WELLE:ERDBALL and LETZTE INSTANZ will join in, while the fans of the more rocking sounds can look forward to ZERAPHINE, LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE, CLAN OF XYMOX as well as to a reunion with EISBRECHER who already conquered the hearts of the Amphi audience in a storm in 2007. It will also be a special weekend for HAUJOBB fans worldwide. After mastermind Daniel Myer decided to lay his veteran project to rest, HAUJOBB return on stage for a last show to rock the house at the Tanzbrunnen for a last time.Aside the musical fireworks on stage, a considerable framework programme is in preparation. In 2008 there’ll be after-show parties on both days in the theatre for the first time and also under the open skies there’ll be lots of things to discover after the sunset.
With constant ticket fees the Amphi Festival 2008 shows itself considerably improved in many points and offers its attendees more than ever. While a new structured schedule provides the bands with more play time, a lot of things were done for the good of the fans with new free parking places right next to the venue and the increasing of sanitary facilities. Cocktail-, Long-drink- and Met bars provide for much more diversity on the list of beverages and a satisfied Amphi experience 2008.
