Zitadelle Spandau, Berlin, Germany
13th June 2009
Unheilig, Oomph!, Project Pitchfork, Diary of Dreams, Zeraphine, Tanzwut

The Zita Rock Festival is back. Already for the first time, the motto will be ‘Let’s get ready to Zita Rock!’ After last year’s phenomenal success, the Zita Rock tunes up again and presents you an exciting program inside the breathtaking Renaissance scenery next to the Havel shores. Decorated with six top acts, the summer makes sense again.

Starting the festival this time are the local heroes of TANZWUT. Led by Teufel, they turn out as festival openers with a noble temper whose alter ego, the minstrels once invented a new rock instrument and now combine traditional medieval times with modern rock and swirling electronics. Subsequently comes the time of a much loved guest. After more than 15 years rose up to a spearhead of Berlin’s Goth rock scene, Sven Friedrich returns to the Zita Rock 2009 with ZERAPHINE t provide a pinch of dark romantic rock.

With DIARY OF DREAMS waits another highlight of the Zita Rock 2009. The exceptional band around Adrian Hates knows like no other how to combine thoughtful lyrics with musical finesse. Without a safety net, the DIARY OF DREAMS will take its listener on a dark trip through the abysms of the human soul which is not only catchy, but crawls deep under your skin. Joining in on this seamlessly are scene icons PROJECT PITCHFORK. Known as pioneering, they kept a refreshing sense of unpredictability up to the present day. Eclectic and intelligent, they won’t stop at bringing their fans a steel hard array of creative electro sounds and relentless guitars. Always up for a surprise, there’s only one meaning for the initials ‘PP’ and that is: Must see!!!

Right after that, the wolves return to the castle. Led by whirlwind Dero, OOMPH! are an epitome for forceful harshness and dynamic industrial rock. Amps turned up to 12; the monsters of the Zita Rock deliver an energetic show, causing a great hype, especially six feet deeper. Enchanting, heartfelt, and wonderful are the attributes with which UNHEILIG has acquired their status as best German Goth rock band. Carried by the distinct voice of the count, this band is a phenomenon, touching and exciting fans of all ages equally - a roller-coaster ride of goose bumps and pure adrenaline, powerful rock and great feelings for a worthy closing of the Zita Rock Festival 2009.

But the citadel alone already would be worth the journey. Built from 1559 to 1594 after blueprints of the Italian architect Francesco Chiaramella, it’s amongst the most important Renaissance fortresses in Europe. Its walls, all surrounded b water reach up to 208 metres and at the inner yard stands the 30 metres high Julius tower, Spandau’s landmark. Discovered as a much loved motif by the TV, and motion picture industry, the citadel as home of the Zita Rock Festival, provides room for up to 10.000 music fans and as most popular Open Air ground has perfect festival conditions with enough parking slots on site, providing for an easy start of the festival day.

An interesting social program with signing sessions, a big aftershow party on the citadel site and much more is in preparation.
