The history of the international alternative rock band PLACEBO began in 1994 at that time still under the name ASHTRAY HEART which they changed, however, fast into PLACEBO because the other one seemed too long to them. Since their last world tour which they began in February, 2006 in Thailand and which led them one and a half years all around the globe has changed a lot: In October 2007 the long-time drummer Steve Hewitt left the band because of musical and personal differences. He was substituted in August 2008 with Steve Forrest who played before with the Californian punk band EVALINE.

Now they published their sixth studio album ‘Battle for the Sun’ on 5th June 2009. It is the first album that did not appear any more under the label Virgin Records, but after the long planned change with the Indie label [PIAS]. After some festival appearances in summer they start in winter to a world tour once more which will also lead them to Germany for seven concerts, namely Stuttgart, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin, Mannheim and on the 26th of November 2009 also to the Olympiahalle Munich!
