Review Flash
APOCALYPTICA released their debut album, ‘Plays Metallica By Four Cellos’, on May 10th 1996 and created a new genre: Symphonic Metal. Celebrating the 20th anniversary, the album was re-mastered and three bonus tracks were added, including a newly recorded version of ‘Nothing Else Matters’. ‘Battery’ has been covered by several bands but this cello version really gets you head-banging. ‘Nothing Else Matters’ has been recorded in a classic arrangement by METALLICA with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in 1999, so it made really sense to put this song on an APOCALYPTICA album. ‘Seek and Destroy’ as a powerful song and really works perfectly in APOCALYPTICA’s live-shows.
Conclusion: Compared to the original album, the re-mastered version sounds better, somehow cleaner and details are emphasised. If you don’t have the album already, it will be a nice addition to your collection.
