Kettcar - “Live 2024" - Support: Shitney Beers
Hamburg Indie Rock band KETTCAR had been very quiet for a long time. Their last studio album ‘Ich vs. Wir’ from 2017 was followed by a tour and the live album ‘... und das geht so’ at the end of 2019, but from then on it was quiet around the band. It almost seemed as if the pandemic had pulled the plug on the band. But that was far from the truth: since the beginning of 2024, the Hamburg band have released single after single and finally a new studio album. ‘Gute Laune Ungerecht Verteilt’ even made it to #1 spot in the German album charts immediately after its release, clearly showing that KETTCAR are back.

Keane - “Celebrating 20 Years Of Hopes And Fears” - Support: The Sherlocks
It was clear to me that this concert would be something special as soon as I arrived at the venue. Not only did the license plates speak volumes - they came from all over Germany and neighbouring countries - but the languages at the entrance were a mix of German, Flemish, French, English, or even Spanish. KEANE had not been on tour for a long time and both concerts in Cologne were sold out. Originally planned for the smaller E-Werk, there was such a huge demand that the show was moved to the bigger Palladium and even an additional date was scheduled.

Morphose & Special Guests: audiocall
“Paths are made by walking.” Franz Kafka
So far, my concert reviews for Reflections of Darkness have focused solely on writing about DIARY OF DREAMS. The contact with the band has now become something very friendly, familiar; one knows each other, and capturing the mood becomes child’s play. However, to challenge myself a bit and to give space to the new, I have decided to take the plunge and write about two bands about which I basically know nothing or very little. MORPHOSE crossed my path briefly a while ago with ‘Spin the wheel’, but with AUDIOCALL, I had to start completely from scratch.

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators - “The River is Rising - Rest of the World Tour 24” - Special Guest: Mammoth WVH
Rock audiences have been salivating for months: Cult guitarist SLASH and Myles Kennedy, who some people might know as the lead singer of ALTER BRIDGE were coming to town. In the long lines in front of the parking ticket vending machines (thanks for nothing, dear Mitsubishi Electric Hall) debates were raging about Wikipedia’s list of best guitarists vs. the one from The Rolling Stone Magazine. In short, everyone was hyped to unearth their leather vest with the carefully curated band patches from the closet and head to Düsseldorf for a chockful of good ol’ Rock’n’Roll.
