The Eagles, Claudia Koreck

The legendary EAGLEs were flying over Germany again. The "Long Road Out Of Eden Tour" went into its second round and one of the stops was Cologne. ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ was released in 2007 and it was the first studio album after 28 years. 7,000 people came to enjoy this great and special combination of country and rock music.

Claudia Koreck

Claudia is a German song writer who sings in Bavarian. Music and lyrics are written by herself. Koreck grew up first in Traunstein, later in Hufschlag before she moved to Munich. She plays keyboard and guitar. Originally she also sang in English and German, in the meantime, she sings Bavarian only. In 2005, she took part in the regional song competition “Local Hero”. Later in 2006, she appeared at the Oktoberfest in Munich. In 2007, she was discovered with the song ‘Fliang’ (Flying) by the radio station Bavaria 3 and was strongly promoted.

On 17th August2007, her first album including the title ‘Fliang’ came out. In Bavaria it was at the top of the bestselling albums, in Germany it took place on No. 15 in the music charts. Koreck was also a member of the project MENSCHENSKINDER. On the 13th February 2009, she represented Bavaria at Stefan Raab's “Bundesvision Song Contest” with the song 'I wui dass du woaßt' (I want you to know) and reached no. 10. On the same day, her second studio album 'Barfuaß um die Welt' (Barefoot around the World) was released. www.claudia-koreck.de / http://www.myspace.com/claudiakoreck

Music & Performance
Claudia Koreck and her band started early at 7.30 pm. So the show began even before we entered the hall. Claudia performed with an acoustic guitar only supported by her band. She must be very proud to be from Bavaria, because she sings all her songs in Bavarian. Between the songs she told us stories from her life, about her little son and her husband who is playing the piano in her band. On her recent album 'Menschsein' is one English song, which is called 'Beautiful' and she has recorded it with the surfer/songwriter Donovan Frankenreiter. During the show she performed this song with her drummer. Other songs she played were: 'Autofahren', 'Hunger', 'Wenn i di ned hätt', 'Menschsein', and 'I wui dass du woasst' which was written for an unfair ex-boyfriend. Her songs are honest and straight from the heart. Her album title gives us a guess how she simply wants to be: being human.

The Eagles

THE EAGLES chronicled America in the high-flying Seventies, a time of rapidly changing social mores leading up to what they called “life in the fast lane”. Between the lines, their favourite subject matter was the pursuit and unravelling of the American dream. They began as wide-eyed country-rockers on the fertile Los Angeles music scene and evolved into purveyors of grandiose, dark-themed albums about excess and seduction. THE EAGLES were defined and bounded by the Seventies, forming in 1971 and parting ways in 1980. They were born again in 1994 as public demand for their music and messages persuaded them to reunite. The statistics on THE EAGLES reveal their influence as a rock and roll band. The group’s first best-of collection, Their ‘Greatest Hits 1971-1975’ is the best-selling album of all time, having sold 26 million copies.

It was the first album to be certified platinum (1 million sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America, which introduced that classification in 1976. They released four consecutive #1 albums between 1975 and 1979 - ‘One of These Nights’, ‘Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975’, ‘Hotel California’ and ‘The Long Run’ - which collectively topped Billboard’s album chart for 27 weeks. Proving they hadn’t lost their touch the 1994 reunion album ‘Hell Freezes Over’ occupied the #1 spot for two weeks. THE EAGLES charted five #1 hits, and five more singles made the Top Ten. They sold more albums in the Seventies than any other American band. Moreover, though the band was inactive in the Eighties, their back catalogue steadily sold 1.5 million copies a year. http://www.eaglesband.com / http://www.myspace.com/eaglesmusic

Music & Performance
With guitar heroes and American country rock legends THE EAGLES it can’t be denied that this was one amazing night. There were only seats for the audience. There was also a big screen at the back of the stage and sometimes it felt like you are a part of a live DVD show. The biggest and most famous hit 'Hotel California' was already the fourth song and after a trumpet intro the guitar riffs started and I'm sure those in the audience who were already growing ups when this song was released felt like being back in 1976. Some people couldn't stay on their seats, they just needed to dance during the show. Absolutely great, because we were at a concert so you are allowed to move. Maybe my view will change with age, but an arena with only seats is strange for a concert in my opinion. As you could see and hear THE EAGLES are professionals on stage. Especially Glenn Frey was talking a lot to the audience. He said 'Lying Eyes' was written in just 2 days in 1975. During 'In The City' a busy city life, I guess it was New York, was shown on the video screen.

After the band introduction 'Life's Been Good' was played and funny videos and pictures of the past from the guys were shown. THE EAGLES had a band as support and all in all there were 13 musicians on stage. THE EAGLES were magnificent. They took us on a journey maybe through California and let's hope it will take still a long time until they will close their hotel for good.
