Alanis Morissette
Canadian singer Alanis Morissette became an absolute superstar in the 90s with her album ‘Jagged Little Pill’. Anyone my age probably knows the lyrics of songs like ‘You Oughta Know’, ‘Hand In My Pocket’ and ‘Ironic’ by heart, whether you like it or not. Although Morissette never matched this success again, her next album ‘Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie’ also did really well.
Over the next years she released several other albums, but she was somewhat forgotten in Europe and the Netherlands. In 2008, Alanis Morissette surprised everyone with her cover version of BLACK EYED PEAS ‘My Humps’. The YouTube video was an instant hit worldwide and got over 15 million views. In 2012, Alanis released a new album called ‘Havoc and Bright Lights’ which put her back in the spotlights again getting a lot of airplay at Dutch mainstream radio station 3FM.
