EP Review

Austrian vocal groove project BAUCHKLANG came about in 1996 and in 2001 released the album 'Jamzero' they received various awards for. The stand-out criteria of that group is them creating music only by using advanced beatboxing and vocal techniques. You wouldn't figure that when listening to the new EP's title track 'Le Mans', which is my first contact with the band ever. It's a minimalist club track that'll work great on stage and at night. Another example of that follows with 'Berging', amazing with the multitude of layers they create. Sometimes really hard to be believe these are entirely vocal sounds. 'Afro Side Up' adds an ambient component to the list and a slight world music touch is to it as well.

That's it already with the EP. Only three song but very fascinating. They show what the human body is capable of creating without using a ton of synthesizers or or instruments. Really impressive.
