Album Review

BLACK SHEPP WALL are a doom metal band from the sunny San Fernando Valley from California. ‘No Matter Where It Ends’ is their second full length album right after ‘I Am God Songs’. With their first release they created an interesting hybrid of noisy sludge and metal core that seems the refresh the doom metal sphere in one night. So after almost four years and with new band members they struggle back to older glories. BLACK SHEEP WALL still rooted their basic mayhem in the same layer of down-tempo Sludgecore but this seems more disembodied than sorrow and its still more refined than their first release. ‘No Matter Where It Ends’ seems technically more correctly executed, the sound structure is more on point but this is also the greatest disadvantage for this release.

The noisier parts on ‘I Am God Songs’ use more warped and twisted portion and created more personality which created more evil feelings and emotion listening to them than their counterparts on ‘No Matter Where It Ends’. Some tracks are a little bit irritating cause they seem evil, dark and depressing the first time listening but it you listen to them repeated times they loose their rough edges and got rid of their greatest dynamic like crushing riffs and hard hitting drums and terrifying vocals.  “No Matter Where It Ends” is still a real good album which kicks you outside like a mad mule but over the whole line it creates no real variance in sound. ‘No Matter Where It Ends’ is an album which appears a little to smooth and safe to be a real great album. Technically well-crafted music was presented in a whole day commercial package. It is an album which could be bought without regretting it but should be listened before.
