KAMCHATKA is a Swedish rock band with influences from late 60s to early 70s blues rock bands; the band came together in 2001. The riff oriented guitar playing style of frontman Thomas “Juneor” Andersson (guitar/ vocals) often earns the band comparisons to THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE, LED ZEPPELIN and CREAM (which should be considered flattery of the nicest kind). KAMCHATKA supported CLUTCH in 2007, 2008 and 2009. It`s Monday the 28th of April 2014 and I listen to this nice bands fourth output and I really, really like it!
The bit about the mix of different influences is 100% true but in a good way, the band has many influences and they let you hear them all but miraculously they accomplish this task without the slightest bit of pushiness. This band got me really surprised; I just reviewed these guys because I read an interview with Thomas Andersson (who is a really cool guy with an epic beard). This band is really laid back and has a great attitude to them. The sound is full, rich and juicy, Andersson voice is mandatory and fits perfect into the band`s sound. If I get the chance to see these Guys live I will and I will descend on their merch like a maniac.
Conclusion: Listen to this record and the former ones and don`t forget to buy all the stuff…
PS: Originally I intended to highlight a few songs but then I realised that there are too many great songs on this record to mention, just buy this masterpiece!
