Flash Review

As mysterious and veiled as the mind behind FYFE constructed it´s cryptic and shady public presence (there are not much more traces than the name Paul Dixon and the city walls of Manchester), as distant and attracting unapproachable feels the music on his current output ‘Control’. 11 tracks arranged as sparse and minimalistic as necessary for creating a mood that weaves together a kind of an artificial chill with the palpable and touching fragility of a wounded heart. It is the sadness, the emotional fears and the self-reflecting sentiment, that creates layer above layer, fills the spaces the music left cleverly vacant. It sounds all so reduced, from the unassuming beats to the diffident melodies, from the timid chords to the spherical sounds, serving as raft for the vulnerability and brittleness of the vocals, which almost tenderly clings to the textures of sounds and perceptions, to the flow of the music that is coloured with pastels and intensity, melancholy and beauty.

Conclusion: Wonderful varied and melancholic album.
