Album Review

Well known guitarist Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra) has revealed the sights and sounds of his solo accomplishment entitled ‘House Of Insanity’. This third attempt is by far decent; the guitar riffs and well thought out solos play through crisp and clear from beginning to end and a handful of tunes are worth mentioning: ‘Solitaire’ (a duet with Zak Stevens [Savatage, Circle II Circle]) , ‘I Won't Know’, ‘House Of Insanity’, ‘Shame’, ‘Fight The Fleas’, ‘Schizophrenia’, ‘Seasons Change’, ‘Back's To The Wall’, ‘Winter in Hamburg’ and ‘No Matter What’. Not to mention the cover tune of Bob Marley’s ‘Get Up, Stand Up’ that brings back an era we once lived and enjoyed. These selections set the whole insanity theme that is played throughout the entire album; this one being no comparison whatsoever to his two previous works. But that being said does bring his past creations into play here, ‘Faces’ (2004) and ‘Pins And Needs’ (2007); both did there share musically but intended to dish out more of a melodic tone as the ‘House Of Insanity’ tending to lack that quality altogether. In close this is an album with a smooth surface with easy-going music you can simply “relax too”.
