As a little teaser for the great concert film ‘This Is What You Wanted’, which will be released on 15.12. as part of the PLACEBO Live Box Set, PLACEBO have released the live video for ‘Try Better Next Time’. In addition to ‘This Is What You Wanted’, the box set includes ‘Collapse Into Never’ and ‘Live From The White Room’, two more sensational live sets. Each was recorded over the past year and a half as the band toured the world in support of their new album ‘Never Let Me Go’.‘Collapse Into Never’, recorded live at the Low Festival in Spain, comes as a transparent double vinyl with a gatefold cover. ‘This Is What You Wanted’ was recorded live in Mexico City and is included as a Blu-Ray. ‘Live From The White Room’, recorded in Studio 1 of the Twickenham Studios, brings to life seven songs from the acclaimed new album ‘Never Let Me Go’ and is presented in a softpak gatefold CD. The ‘Collapse Into Never Live In Europe’ concert will also be released digitally, but ‘Live From Mexico’ and ‘Live From The White Room’ will only be available physically and exclusively as part of the box set.
The box set includes songs from the self-titled debut album ‘Placebo’, as well as from ‘Black Market Music’, ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’, ‘Battle For The Sun’ and ‘Loud Like Love’. The critically acclaimed new album ‘Never Let Me Go’, which entered the top 10 charts in 13 countries upon its release last year, is also represented with some tracks, including the album’s most successful song, ‘Beautiful James’. The fan-favourite cover versions of ‘Running Up That Hill’ by KATE BUSH and ‘Shout’ by TEARS FOR FEARS are also included.
With ‘Placebo Live’, the band is releasing a live album for the first time in almost 20 years. Previously, ‘Soulmates Never Die - Live from Bercy’ was the best-selling live DVD by a Rock band at EMI in its release year of 2004. Now, one of the greatest live bands of the last 25 years is getting the live album it deserves. ‘Placebo Live’ underscores why their show continues to be the essential experience it has always been.
