FKÜ stands for “Freddie Krüger’s Ünderwear” and this is telling you a lot about the band. FKÜ has been around for a short stint from 1987-1988 only to return in 1997 and finally get down and record a first demo called ‘Beware of the Evil Ünderwear’. From then on, the Thrashers from Uppsala, Sweden routinely bombarded us with rad music. ‘The Horror And The Metal’ is the band’s sixth full-length and it rips you a fresh one. It’s pretty clear from the start that these guys play music along the lines of bands like GAMABOMB, the lyrics are mostly intentionally cheesy or downright funny as fuck and the vocals are a blend between DR. LIVING DEAD! and acts like SPACE CHASER or even OVERKILL. It is safe to say that this is for all of the thrashers out there, music to raise hell and drink gallons of beer to. The opener ‘The Horror And The Metal’ thematizes what I often talk about, the fact that Heavy Metal and horror go as good together as skinny jeans and high tops. The second track ‘(He is) The Antichrist’ naturally is a song about Damian, the protagonist of ‘The Omen’ and the next one ‘The Spawning’ seems to be a song about the ‘Piranha’ movies. All in all, this is exactly what this old geezer needed on a lazy Sunday.
Conclusion: If you dig horror movies and bad-ass Thrash Metal with velocity, great vocals and an amount of energy that could feed a small country: buy this!
