Album Review

THE LAST CRY consists of three UK musicians who were influenced by the success of their countrymen THE CURE and DEPECHE MODE. Although the band was formed in the beginning of the century its debut album was released just couple months ago. Instead of shooting with raw material, they've made an emphasis on live-performance, which is according to different reviewers absolutely must see. As THE LAST CRY is supposed to be a successor of classics of Synth Pop and Gothic Rock, they try to combine both styles, making their sound as original as it can be with this mixture. Dance electronic sound comes together with typical guitar playing manner and melancholic deep vocals. So even dark and sad songs will be a nice choice for an underground party, but best of all the 'Nowhere' will fit. The band managed to take the best characteristics of different musical directions avoiding the copying and to make their own music sound fresh and interesting. Although the mood is totally decadent, ‘Walking to the Edge’ is quite nice piece of work, and it's a big pleasure to listen to the album again and again. It is wonderful to know that even if Gothic has already seen it's best times and not a trend anymore, there are still such great reincarnations in bands like THE LAST CRY.
