Album Review

There’s not much to say about this project from Denmark except that it’s obviously a One-man project with additional guest musicians as the press release talks about a band as well. Well, the debut of this mysterious band is called ‘Ghost’ and starts with ‘In the Shadow of a Shadow’ and begins with reverberating drums eventually leading to a rhythm that’s creeping along at a very slow pace. The rest of the arrangement mingles traditional Goth rock and post punk influences to a pleasant cocktail getting enriched additionally by the smooth vocals of singer and mastermind (((S))). Melodic riffs open the next track ‘Mamachild’ that at once is coated with a texture of white noise that ebbs for the vocals of (((S))) to be heard clearly. The rhythms of the now following ‘Deathtrip’ are very reminisce of JOY DIVISION in their minimalist sound approach and the guitars have a strong touch of THE CURE. Again it’s Goth Rock and Post Punk united. If you think you’ve heard ‘Help’ some place before then you’re absolutely right. It’s a cover version of THE BEATLES song though it comes in a quite different costume. It’s indulging in dark and depressive sonic colours. It comes across like the other side of the medal.

‘Ghost’ is a decent if not necessarily a spectacular event to listen to though it’s still above average through its melodies and especially regarding the production.
