Album Review
RADIO DEAD ONES is comprised of four Berliners, they’ve played many gigs around Germany, released several 7" and 12" vinyls, EPs and a self-titled debut album. Now with a new one, ‘AAA’, they seek to push to the front lines of “new wave of European Punk Rock’. Luckily they’re not the modern caricature of Punk that so many of those bands can become, their music has more of the Punk than of the Rock, they have the edge, attitude, dynamics and the full-on energy blasting straight in your face. There is a shot of intro which effortlessly slinks into the first full song, ‘Sensual Seduction’, where I’m enjoying the interaction of vocals, the straight up Punk ones with the growl of the backing vocal together with the relentlessness of music; it’s a highly communicative blasting track with a slash of guitar solo.
As you might expect from any good Punk band you’d find some commentary on the shittiness of the world as well. ‘Dirty Love Hotel’ starts by getting you confused if you’re hearing a female vocal or a voice distortion, it’s in the background as well so it’s something I’ll leave at so I won’t spoil the guessing game. ‘Into The Sun’ has a great pacing, good catchiness. ‘Fuck’em All’ is a superb catalyst for all that you’re being pissed off and angry about lately.’ RDO 2 (BRÄMF)’ is an instrumental and shows off a great fusion of Punk, Metal and Rock, the guys bring it on like they were born to do nothing else. AAA is an album that will affirm that Punk’s not dead! From what I hear their live performances are superb too, so check them out - both their album and concert wise or miss out!
