There’s really nothing to complain about, CYNDI LAAUPER is always good for a surprise. After the pop icon put some of their greatest hits amongst are ‘Time After Time’, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ und ‘True Colors’ in some whole new costumes on her last album ‘The Body Acoustic’ (2006) with the help of very interesting guests like Shaggy, Jeff Beck or Ani DiFranco and took a role on the Broadway in the ‘Dreigroschenoper’, the New York based musician will release a new studio album with ‘Bring Ya to the Brink’ on 1st August 2008. It’s the first CYNDI LAUPER album since 1997 that is exclusively comprised of new songs.

The twelve songs of the long player were created in close collaboration with some of the hippest Dance producers of our times i.e. Basement Jaxx, Kleerup, Axwell und Dragonette; the Grammy award served as co-author and producer on every song. “You can converge to the album in two different ways”, she explains “On the surface, it’s a Dance album you like to shake your hips to, but of you take a closer listen then you’ll see that there’ slots of things to discover. The songs have depth.” The first US single of the album ‘Same Ol’ Story’ clearly presents the overall modern sound of the album. On this track CYNDI LAUPER was supported by the multi talent Rick Morel who already made songs from NELLY FURTADO, MARIAH CAREY and THE KILLERS ready for the charts via remixes. In the past years the US American has also worked for NEW ORDER, DEPECHE MODE, the PET SHOP BOYS and SEAL. In 2007 CYNDI LAUPER hit the headliners with her successful “True-Colours Tour”. Together with ERASURE, DEBBIE HARRY, THE DRESDEN DOLLS and THE GOSSIP, the singer and songwriter hit the road for this big tour whose proceeds were donated for the benefit of the ‘Human Rights Campaign’ championing for the rights of homosexuals and trans genders.

This year there was a continuation, but this time, the B-52'S, JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS, TEGAN AND SARA, THE CLIKS, KAT DELUNA and REGINA SPEKTO; as well as some other guests completed the illustrious line-up. The tour, leading them through 24 cities in North America was the opportunity for CYNDI LAUPER to give back some of the love and support, the gay community granted her throughout her whole career. The idea behind the “True-Colours-Tour” is to celebrate those virtues and liberties all inhabitants of North America should be able to enjoy. CYNDI LAUPER will only be in Germany for one concert but without the US package. On 1st November she will be guest in Cologne’s E-Werk
