The curtain falls for the French progressive metal band THE OLD DEAD TREE. After twelve years and four albums the band reached a dead end. With 'The Nameless Disease' (2003) the band achieved a lot of international success, and well respected over the years for their diversity. Their last album 'The Water Fields' (2007) has a more mature sound.

A trademark is vocalist Manuel Munoz: talented in deep grunts and a high pure sound filled with emotions. A new album was scheduled for the Fall, but there were too much creative differences among the members. The band will be missed. - SD

THE OLD DEAD TREE toured a lot with EPICA in Europe. The last time they performed in The Netherlands was with AUTUMN in Tilburg (november 2007) and after that a huge festival tour in 2008 on Summer Breeze Open Air (Germany), Wave Gothic Treffen (Leipzig) and followed by a French club tour. The band had a strong fan base in Europe. The Old Dead Tree and their label Season Of Mist published a newsletter to explain more about the situation:

I wish I never had to write those words, but nothing is forever. These last few months, some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction in the making of our fourth album. Those differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem and led me to make the decision of ending the band's activities.

In twelve years of existence, The Old Dead Tree had its share of line-up changes. Of course, each of them has been an improvement, but they were also painful losses. And I do not want to face that kind of loss again.

Be that as it may, I am still extremely proud of the work we have achieved and I want to thank all the people without whom nothing would have been possible: past and present band members with whom I learnt so much and had amazing times, our wonderful crew, our label Season of Mist, our tour booker K Productions, and especially the fans who supported us and encouraged us to go forwards. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

This is now farewell.
