Album Review

One of the biggest German papers, Süddeutsche Zeitung, called the newcomers BLEK LE ROC one of the most promising bands. And even if I’m not always agree with the opinions of Süddeutsche Zeitung, here I have to admit they’re right. BLEK LE ROC now acts mostly in their hometown Munich, but they are just in the beginning of the long way. The strangest thing about the band, that these Indie guys write such a sad and melancholic songs like no gothic band does, and use the word “death” or “dead” that much, like no gothic or metal band does. Within their self titled debut album they concentrated all the sadness a young man could feel. The songs are mostly love-rock-ballads full of clean romantic love delirium with very light airy arrangements. Together with the melancholic high vocals BLEK LE ROC managed to create the most depressive antidepressant. Listening to the band, there is an impression, that there are three sad little boys with scratched knees, who you want to cuddle and console. So cute and naive their music is. It should be also noticed, that already on their first album there are such names as Alex Klier (worked with PINK FLOYD, DIE ÄRZTE, EISBRECHER) and Uwe Bossert (Nelly Furtado, owner of the “Achtung Music” record company) as the help in producing.
