British band RESIST was formed in 2005 and only three months later it toured through the country along with cult post-punk outfit THE FALL. In 2007, the musicians released the debut album ‘Violated’ digitally on iTunes and a year thereafter they induced the interest of the media with the debut on British television. RESIST’s newest creation ‘The Ride’ comes in April but it is preceded by the single ‘I am not the Enemy’ which gives us an opportunity to make some cursory ideas about the material that will be presented on the sophomore full-length CD.

Thus let’s get back to the single that starts with the eponymous song in which beautiful piano passages coupled with great vocals produce a strong impression and mesmerize a listener more and more every second. Rigid electronic sounds don’t break the whole mildness of the melody but quite the contrary they just increase the expressive qualities of the composition itself. Besides the good remix gives an opportunity to assess another version of this track which is a bit aggressive and more energetic than the original. Two different remixes of the song ‘She’s not me’ are definitely made for dance floors: imposing vocals and intensive music do their job in an excellent way.

Yet the second composition that is also the last one on the single is more melodic and at the same time very danceable. All these things are also true for the non-album track ‘Cocaine’ in which electronic sonic effects aren’t too excessive although in general the sound is quite striking. So if we can judge by the single the upcoming album should be as well qualitative and interesting.
