With their newest release, FAUN embarks on a journey into the world of fairytales and mythical creatures. The Munich-based ensemble melodizes ballads, revolving around mythical figures and the magical side of medieval times with songs of trolls, mermen, the dragon slayer Sigurd, and of bewitching but at the same time dangerous fairies. ‘Buch der Balladen’ is much more than just an audio CD. Coming in a coined, 44-sided hardcover book, buyers will find lyrics of all songs as well as the notes to all songs including guitar tabs, numerous explanations and illustrations. For their newest release, FAUN has turned their focus towards the sole use of acoustic, medieval orchestration. Instruments used in the course of recording were e.g. Celtic harp, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe, various lutes etc

’Buch der Balladen’ will be released on 20th November. Simultaneously to the regular edition, a limited edition will be offered including the bonus track ‘Brynhilds Lied’ with over 10 minutes duration. In winter 2008/2009, FAUN played a Europe-wide, seated acoustic tour. Rave reactions by fans and press as well as 18 of 22 concerts being sold-out confirm the status of the ensemble and moreover, the interest in narrative songs and ballads. From February to May 2010, FAUN will play a second and for now last acoustic which will be conceptually and musically tied to the new release.
