Maybe talking about the regional specialties of music is the most incorrect thing there can be. But listening to Belgian project AIBOFORCEN it’s impossible to ignore the fact that they are countrymen of one of the most significant sound-designers and classics of electronic music FRONT 242. And even if with time their sound of this band became lighter and more melodious the association is still very strong. The endless experiments can really amaze you. After the second album female vocals are the inalienable part of AIBOFORCEN’s music, and that makes it sound originally. This way the dark electronic melodies are coming together with melancholic tender vocals.
Since there is a great diversity of sounds and musical influences on the album ‘Dédale’, it is fair to say that the conception and stylistic heart of the album is a quite interesting electronic interpretation of U2’s hit ‘New Year's Day’. In the context of hypnotic charm of the album with help of Jennifer Parkin (AYRIA) on the vocals the song blossomed again. To represent the multi-faceted structure of this work it’s enough to name invited musicians. Claus Larsen (LEAETHER STRIP), Dominik Van Reich (AMGOD), Xev (DIFFUZION) and Donna Lynch (EGO LIKENESS) took part on ‘Dédale’. So you can hear Synth-Pop and dance tracks as well as trip-hop and ambient influences as well as harsh electronics. Mature fans of electronic music should like this album a lot. As for those who isn’t familiar with the creativity of AIBOFORCEN or prefers simple light music it can be kind of difficult to follow the storyline, but if you’re brave enough, it is surely worth to give it a try.
