Covenant & Aesthetic Perfection

This Wednesday, spoilt by rain, stormy and smelling like autumn, was the day for COVENANT and AESTHETIC PERFECTION to visit Munich in the course of their “Leaving Babylon Tour”.

Aesthetic Perfection

AESTHETIC PERFECTION is an American electronic music project, was founded by singer Daniel Graves in Hollywood in 2000. In 2009, AESTHETIC PERFECTION supported COMBICHRIST on their “Demons on tour” tour in the USA and Europe. Their up-to-now last album 'All Beauty Destroyed' was released in 2011. http://www.aesthetic-perfection.net/

Music & Performance
At the beginning, there was not yet a big crowd in the Backstage: Maybe it was due to the fact that it was in the middle of the week, a football match took place or the weather was so execrable. Then shortly after 19.00 o'clock it was time and with fog and little light, singer Daniel Graves, Keyboarder Elliot Berlin and drummer Tim van Horn entered the stage, Daniel with hat and on that day again with that “hand make-up” in his face. At times he looked like a villain from a Batman film. With rousing songs they got the fans into the right mood, even though the crowd was a little small at the moment, but more and more people were constantly arriving. In their half-hour presentation songs like 'The Ones', 'Pale', 'The Siren' or also 'The Great Depression' were presented. The band recompensed in the end with adequate applause.

Covenant

COVENANT is a band founded in 1986 in Helsingborg/Sweden. Originally resident in the electric sphere, with their latest published works the band tended into the direction of Future pop, with loans from trip Hop, Ambient, dance and drum and bass. The last important change in the band line-up was the leaving of Keyboarder Daniel Myer who concentrates now on his own projects. Now, just in time for their European tour, their album 'Leaving Babylon' was released, being up to now also their most successful album in the Charts. http://www.covenant.se/

Music & Performance
After an adequate rebuilding break it was finally time for COVENANT, the band around singer Eskil Simonsson, to appeared one after the other, wrapped in fog and darkness. Once again it was a heavy job for the present photographers... but well, the light show is not made for the photographers, but for the audience. COVENANT immediately began with the title song from their new album, 'Leaving Babylon', followed by 'Ritual Noise'. In the meantime, the crowd has visibly grown and was with the band from the very first song. The mood in the hall was very good.

During the now following set, the sound was ok and Eskil’s piercing voice sounded very well. There was nothing to moan about when it comes to the songs being selected for the setlist. After the band had finished the last of their six additions, anyone in the hall was more than satisfied. Of course, the set did not miss out songs like 'Call the Ships to Port', 'Der Leiermann', 'We Stand Alone', 'The Men' or also the new single 'Last dance'. After about two hour, the concert evening with successful sets of two bands worth a listen had ended. Whoever did not dance enough during this evening surely did something wrong…
