Album Review

‘Rabbit’, known simply as ‘Collective Soul’, happens to be the eighth LP by Atlanta based rock act COLLECTIVE SOUL. Released on Roadrunner Records, one of the very best metal labels around, you know you're in for a treat. COLLECTIVE SOUL's style is upbeat and catchy throwing together guitar riffs with break-down solos that overlap one another. The drumming portions thunder through from time to time backing everything up. ‘You’, ‘My Days’, ‘She Does’ and ‘Love’ are four of the twelve tunes enlisted upon this self-title effort taking the music to a whole another level. For instance COLLECTIVE SOUL's vocal abilities have expanded themselves, sounding clearer and louder progressing over the instrumentals at certain points.

Like when ‘My Days’ plays through the vocals become louder as soon as the song begins never fading away until it’s all said and done whereas ‘You’ and ‘Love’ each partake in the more easy-listening tone of attitude taking the music down a notch having it a little more catchier. As far as ‘She Does’ is concerned, this tune seems to wrap up all the other tunes together in one simple shot allowing the instruments and vocals to team up, expressing the lyrics a lot more, being able to relate to what the musicians are discussing within their music. Overall COLLECTIVE SOUL’s latest attempts at music are daring and draw its attention when needed.
