Diary of Dreams
Hello DoD fans. I want you to know how amazing the first DIARY OF DREAMS concert here in Mexico was and I hope you like it. I arrived at 8pm, the nerves on top, the minutes passed by and a white truck arrived to the VDMAS club and amazingly I saw Adrian, Gaun:A and DNS getting out of the truck. They went into the VDMAS club really quickly, the time passed but we, the fans, still can’t access to the place. The atmosphere in the row was full of excitement mixed with the cold that we were feeling outside which decreased because of the happiness of the band’s arriving.
The time passed slowly, at that moment I wanted to enter to the club to see at least the stage. Finally we could access and I ran to find a nice place in front of the stage. The support band played a lot of songs and I sincerely wanted them to finish soon because I just wanted to see DIARY OF DREAMS as soon as possible. While the stage was being prepared for the DoD performance, we, the fans, were talking about which songs we wanted to hear and surprisingly we distinguish Torben from the shadows, he said hello with a hand movement, everybody screamed his name…
The waiting time continued and the excitement was increasing, you could feel it in the stomach and a lot of weakness in the knees; my hands were very sweaty I must
confess and then… I don’t remember what time was but YEAH FINALLY! The most expected moment of the night (and for a lot of years) came true: yeah, there they are! First I distinguished very known shadows later in flesh and bone I saw DNS, Gaun:A, Torben, Felix and finally Adrian… wow! Deafening claps they received! Some technical troubles with the guitar but soon we could hear the beginning of ‘Wahn!sinn?’. I had seen videos and the ‘Nine in Numbers’ DVD, but nothing compares Adrian’s presence live when you are seeing him with your own eyes on real time. He started to sing and… what a voice! I was astonished and if you let me say this… he is a very attractive man! Gaun:A was full of energy you can saw it in his eyes from the beginning.The second song of the night was ‘Chemicals’, later I heard the first notes of one of my favourite songs of ‘(If)’ album. Which one? Of course ‘The Chain’ which was incredible to sing this song at the same time Adrian was singing it, these lyrics have many strengths combined with the melody I felt my throat and lungs were going to explode. The next songs were ‘Reign of Chaos’, ‘Poison Breed’ and ‘Unwanted’. ‘MenschFeind’ was sung by the entire audience. “Geboren! Auserkoren!” Unforgettable! The fast heart beating didn’t stop there because ‘King of Nowhere’ sounds through the VDMAS club. I waited with yearning to hear this song because the lyrics are so familiar to the experiences in life and now this song has made history.
“Are you ready for the Soul Stripper?” asked Adrian. “Yeaaaaah of course” was the answer. Adrian invited everybody to sing and we did it with all the strength of our lungs! The time came for ‘Regicide’. I didn’t expect they play it; it was a very nice surprise. ‘AmoK’ was sung very loud by the fans, Adrian’s voice in the ears singing the confession “I trusted every body except myself” left me astonished again. ‘hypo)crypticK(al’ sounded so clean, the chorus was as I imaged on my mind The concert cannot finish without ‘The Curse’, with a funny moment because Adrian went where Gaun:A was playing and he touched his shaved head and sang “My head is shaved, my body bruised”, that was hilarious. One of my favourite songs started… The name? Of course it was ‘Kindrom’ followed by ‘The Wedding’ and ‘The Plague’; my downs got bristled.
‘Butterfly:Dance!’, the first DoD song I ever listened, finally was being played in my country andI cannot believe that… Adrian invited us to sing and that’s what we did: “Hello? Are you listening to me? Hello? Why don’t you speak a word to me?”
‘Traumtänzer’, one of the most expected songs of all night, was next! At this time we showed that Mexicans can sing in German sometimes and with deep emotion. After this song the guys said goodbye… I saw them going downstairs with the hope that they come back and play another song, seconds passed by and some fans next to me and I started to sing ‘She and her Darkness’ (we were talking and found out that this is one of our favourite all time songs) in the darkness of the VDMAS hoping, really hoping, they play it and… Guess what? Yeah, they did! They appeared on stage again, acoustic version… I was speechless… the lyrics, the voice of Adrian, I guess the time stopped while this song was being sung… this moment made some liquid pearls flow, a piece of art this song is.I will forever, believe me, forever remember the moment when Adrian was at the centre of the stage and he sang the last words “I’d vanish for you in defeat”, all the fans gave thanks screaming and clapping. I said them thanks with sheets of paper where I wrote: THANKS FOR COMING! I saw them smile and they gave thanks looking at us. They said good bye this time was for sure the farewell. I really had to go to my house, I saw my watch and I saw: 2:30am, so it was very late or very early depending of the point of view. All emotions were merged: happiness above all, a little bit of sadness because the concert finished. We waited a long time to see them play here, and although the crowd was not as big as the numerous crowds they have seen in other counties [comment: about 400 people saw the show], I have to say that we really love the music they create; we enjoyed the concert a lot! And I saw with my own eyes that for sure Adrian has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen…
The guys must be very tired after nineteen songs but I hope that they can feel the love we have to the band and that they caused so much chemical reactions that Saturday 23rd 2010. It was a long flight to Mexico City I know and I say eternally thanks for coming! Come back soon I cannot wait to hear "Oh DoD will be in Mexico city for second time!" LONG LASTING LIFE FOR DIARY OF DREAMS and keep on making music which is truly art!
